Blind Item: War Declared Backstage at Cult Fave

It’s not unusual for a TV series to have at least one bad seed. You know, an actor whose ego is so ginormous it makes mine look like a half-eaten Skittle?

Well, less typical is a show in which all the stars have the disposition of Linda Blair pre-exorcism, but that’s the situation over at a certain sophomore drama.

"Each actor is crazier than the next," whispers a staffer employed behind the scenes at the war-torn program. "And they all pretty much hate each other."

And they’re finding it increasingly difficult to hide their mutual disdain from viewers. Per my snitch, the male lead "cannot stand" his love interest, "and it’s obvious by their complete lack of chemistry."

The good news is, the nightmare may soon be over for all concerned. Although the show enjoys a rabid cult following and solid critical support, its ratings are such that a third season is looking very unlikely.

So, what’s the series with the work environment that’s so hostile it would make the Roseanne set at its worst seem like paradise? Let the speculation begin in the comments section!

    Pushing Daisies?

  • Rodrigo

Oh, my God! I had no idea things were like that in Pushing Daisies set!!

  • matthew c

The first two shows i thought of are: “Eli Stone” and “Pushing Daisises”. But i don’t think it’s PD, because the cast seems to genuinely care for one another. I think it could be Eli Stone because Miller and Henstridge have NO chemistry what so ever.
I just don’t know what show this could be.

  • Ben

Please don’t tell me that this means all the actors on Pushing Daises hates each other?!?!?! That makes me sad…

  • Lauren

    Pushing Daisies is a comedy.

  • Tkangaroo

Private Practice? Yay! That show needs to go away. How can they have that still going and are getting ready to cancel my pushing daisies? So sad!

  • Thom

    Private Practice

  • Jason Breslin

It CANNOT be Pushing Daisies!! Lee does not have a big ego and his chemistry with Anna is fantastic despite not touching each other.

  • kath

Please don’t think for one second it is PUSHING DAISIES. It is NOT!! I can say with 100% certainty that this is not the cast that Ausiello is referring to.

    What about Dirty, Sexy, Money?

  • ShoNuff

ok, so the soph dramas are gossip girl, dirty sexy money, private practice, chuck, life & pushing daisies.
sounds like daisies with the rabid following, but i can’t imagine those personalities have conflict and there is in fact chemistry between the leads. private practice is going nowhere, so that’s out. gossip girl’s cast are too young to be divas. life doesn’t really have a romantic female lead. chuck was renewed for the year already, so that’s out.
i guess that leaves dirty sexy money, though they don’t really have a cult following. but divas abound on that set.

please tell me it’s like eli stone and not pushing daisies, b/c p.d. is my favorite show and it would really suck to find out that the cast hated each other.

  • Jason Breslin

    Phew!

  • Ashlyn

It’s not Eli Stone. Miller doesn’t even have a main love interest this year (Eli and Taylor have been over since early last season). Plus, it’s pretty much common knowledge that the ES cast has a blast with one another with all of the fantasy and song/dance sequences.

    the big bang theory

  • mike

Has to be – Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

  • vinsssent

or maybe the sarah connors chronicles, I’m not watching it is there a love interest for the boy?

  • wes

    lipstick jungle?

  • richard

    “Dirty Sexy Money”

  • Bevvy

    Please don’t be Chuck!

  • Mel

pushing daisies for sure! huge cult following and critical acclaim but terrible ratings? has to be.
terminator is the only other show i can think of but that doesn’t have a male lead, well technically it does, but the title (sarah connor chronicles) suggests a female lead.

  • AmyK

Everybody remember he said it was a drama. I love Pushing Daisies which is categorized as a comedy. I think it’s Private Practice or Dirty Sexy Money but I watch neither of those shows so I don’t know if it’s valid for the love interest part.

  • Carol

Peter Krause has a terrible reputation for onset diva-ness. The last season of Six Feet Under many people on the staff were glad he was killed off.

  • Anonymous

Please please please please please don’t be Pushing Daisies!! I love that show, and the chemistry between chuck and ned :/
what else has a ‘cult’ following? That leads me to believe it’s a show on the peripheral…

  • Jeff

    Lipstick Jungle?

  • Virginia

Relax people, pushing daisies is NOT A DRAMA! Besides everybody there loves each other, take a look at youtube at the interviews and things like that. We need a drama…Private practise is a drama but the lead is a woman and here it says the leading man can’t stand his love interest. Hmmm Dirty sexy money?

  • Liz

    Brothers and Sisters.

  • Jeff

B&S is in its third season and ratings are good.

  • Liz

My mistake Brothers and Sisters is in it third season.
