Random Scooplets: 'Lost,' 'Sarah Connor,' Eli Stone,' 'Mad Men,' and More!

Oct 10, 2008, 04:12 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: Random Scooplets

Madmenchronicleslost_lFrom the creative force behind Casting Scoops comes this revolutionary new feature that pop culture historians are calling "a miniature Ask Ausiello, only without the Q&A element and not on Wednesday."

Enjoy!

•    Just because Rebecca Mader has been cast in some big, fancy George Clooney movie doesn't means she's leaving Lost, insists an ABC insider, who points out that Matthew Fox has been juggling a movie career and the ABC drama for years. (Of course, he's Matthew Fox.)

•    It's not a back-nine pickup, but it's a start: Fox has ordered two additional Sarah Connor scripts, so says someone on this site. NBC, meanwhile, has ordered four more Knight Rider scripts.

•    Shark's Danielle Panabaker has landed a big guest stint on Eli Stone, so says me.

•    Negotiations between AMC and Mad Man creator Matthew Weiner on a third season of the Emmy-winning drama are continuing.

•    NBC is confirming that Salma Hayek will recur on 30 Rock this season as a love interest for Alec Baldwin. I'm told she's committed to appearing in at least four episodes.

•    Newly-married Josh Schwartz (Chuck, Gossip Girl) is back from his honeymoon. Or as he calls it: "The best vacation of my life." (Hey, they're called Random Scooplets for a reason!)

Gossip Girl needs a couple high-profile guest stars. We need someone new for Blair to be mean to.

All of ABC's Wednesday line-up is in trouble. If the ratings don't pick or worse, if they decline, in the next couple of weeks it's not going to be good.

I read somewhere that Matthew Weiner wants a major production deal for future projects and has been talking to studios and networks, intending to sell his services to highest bidder. I'll bet he wants AMC to cough up a little more money if they wish to keep him and Mad Men-and I wouldn't be surprised if AMC is dragging their feet. Mad Men did put them on the map as far as weekly tv goes, but they're not going to sell their souls for one series, no matter how acclaimed it is.

Wow, first Arrested Development and now Mad Men...does anybody want me to enjoy TV?

taylor Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 01:38 PM EST

Sarah Connor Chronicles is a fantastic show that keeps getting better each episode. The only problem is the time slot. How can anyone think putting it against Monday Night Football would be a good idea?

If the show was on another night/timeslot, I think it would have a huge audience. My vote would be for Wed nights.

Every finger and toe I've got remains crossed for the smart and fun TERMINATOR series...something tells me that show (like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and HEROES) has a lot more viewers than the broadcast ratings indicate. Sigh.

I gotta have more MAD MEN...there's no way there won't be a season 3 for the Emmy winner, right? ::worried pause:: Um, right?

Thats cool about Hayek being on 30 Rock, its a really good show.

JS Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 06:42 PM EST

Sarah Connor: that’s great news for a fantastic show that has surpassed my expectations from the start. It’s on my DVR but I always end up watching it live. Sorry Chuck, I’ve got priorities!

Amelie Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

What about Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money?? And does anyone else besides me worry that Chuck won't survive after this season???

vicki Pasadena, CA Sun, Oct 12, 2008 at 12:23 PM EST

No 3rd season of Mad Men? Kill me now. The best, best show on TV.Matt Weiner, negotiate, baby, negotiate.

Kirsten Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 06:47 PM EST

What about Dirty Sexy Money??

Meg Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 05:53 PM EST

Yay for Danielle Panabaker on "Eli Stone" (the great guest stars keep piling up). But...where's the "Pushing Daisies" scoop???

mb Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 05:09 PM EST

A) I liked Speedracer.

B) Where's my Supernatural scoop??

CandyMaize Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 01:51 PM EST

Although I wish that Fox had ordered more than just 2 TTSCC eps, I'll take what I can get right now (although, seriously, NBC ordered 4 more of Knight Rider??? that just seems unfair for TTSCC!!!)

Gusar Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 06:38 AM EST

"This is 'holy smokes'. He watches shows just so he can b**ch about them. This is his life's ambition." (let's see how many will get the reference)

Seriously though, the latest Sarah Connor episode was brilliant. The show has too much potential to just let it go. I hope Fox has learned from their Firefly fiasco.

"out that Matthew Fox has been juggling a movie career and the ABC drama for years. (Of course, he's Matthew Fox.) "

What in the world does Matthew Fox have with Rebbeca geting a role in a movie?.

Most of his movies are disasters..

Like the idiotic "Speed Racer"

Carsta Sat, Oct 11, 2008 at 01:36 AM EST

If they cancel Mad Men now I won´t survive! I live for the show! I need Pete Campbell and the others on my television every week!
Please let it at least be 5 seasons!!

Kalie Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 05:02 PM EST

Great news about SCC. Last week's ep was terrific. I'd be really disappointed if FOX didn't at least let them finish up Season 2.

Julie Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:47 PM EST

What ever happened to letting a show build? Networks used to do that (Hill Street Blues, anyone? St. Elsewhere?). Fox is the most impatient of the lot--look what they did to Firefly. Sarah Connor is a show with huge potential and they are really starting to find their groove. The last episode was awesome, and if Fox had any sense they would let the show continue for a full season before they decide to pull the plug. (Although the jury is still out for me on singer from Garbage. She's not much of an actress.)

trumanhorn Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:43 PM EST

What on earth could NBC see in "Knight Rider," which one critic I read said was the worst show they had ever seen (NBC: Please move "Chuck" to Wednesdays!)

MM Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

AMC needs to go ahead and lock down a third, fourth and fifth season of Mad Men. And while they're at it, they should start making plans for a Pete Campbell spinoff. That d-bag is awesome.

Don Jariyasunant Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:33 PM EST

2 additional scripts is a start for Sarah Connor. The ratings need to pick up though to guarantee a back 9. I think FOX really wants to see what the writers plan to do story-wise if they give them a back 9.

sdfsdf Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:23 PM EST

"Holy Smokes" - why do you bother watching shows that you don't like in the first place?

Amy Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:07 PM EST

Good for Danielle, she was brilliant on Shark.

fail Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

Clearly you don't watch Sarah Connor at all because it is awesome this season...definitely needs to keep going..even if its just two scripts at a time

Flap Jackson Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

We need more Pushing Daisies scripts.

holy smokes Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Sarah Connor getting 2 more scripts? What to end the series? Because it's a terrible show with even more terrible ratings.

I heard it was 2, now 4 shows for her? Holy smokes, hopfully Jack has those heart pills handy

T.T Fri, Oct 10, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

NBC is confirming that Salma Hayek will recur on 30 Rock this season as a love interest for Alec Baldwin this season.
