It's Official: FX's 'The Riches' Goes Belly Up

Oct 7, 2008, 01:36 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: The Riches

Riches_l After two seasons, the jig is up.

An FX spokesperson confirms that The Riches will not be returning for a third season.

The Eddie Izzard-Minnie Driver con-artist drama had been in limbo since the conclusion of the second season last April. Word of the show's axing started to leak out last week when costar Todd Stashwick announced on his MySpace page that "The Riches has been canceled."

Reaction? Anyone?

bad move i am not watcthing your network anymore.i had to hear it from minnie driver onthe view i won't finish out the season with rescue me either you'll prbably cancel that as well as damages .you stink just like abc networks .guess the viewers don't matter . iam moving onto showtime it's worth paying for . bye fx also you'll prbably cancel nip/tuck too!

Michael Sing Sat, Jun 13, 2009 at 06:47 PM EST

I am also disappointed, WOW! I was waiting for the next season. Just watched a Minnie Driver movie and thought, oh yeah, The Riches should be going into the next season by now. Does anyone know why FX cancelled it? There's gotta be a good reason, besides just axing it!!!???

Ashley Fri, Jun 12, 2009 at 05:46 PM EST

I'm very upset. This was a GREAT show, best I've seen in a long time... I couldn't wait till it came on.. I'm giving up on FX they cancle great shows, and keep the dumb ones.... This was my fav show..... FX is messing up... Im not watching fX.. I hope HBO picks it up, it's the next best thing to sapranos..!!!!!!

S. Wendell Sun, Jun 7, 2009 at 12:10 AM EST

How sad that the television programmers can't recognize a good program if it smacks them in the face! The Riches was unusual and fun, an escape from reality and sit coms. Why don't they ever let a program build it's audience? If it's not an immediate success, it's gone. Too bad...

Craig Sat, Jun 6, 2009 at 11:17 PM EST

I loved this show. Fx heads are retarted!!! I hope HBO or some other station picks it up.

Craig Sat, Jun 6, 2009 at 11:14 PM EST

OMFG!! Why would FX cancel this show? It was so good!! I really hope HBO or someone picks it up.

Tamie Mon, Jun 1, 2009 at 04:19 PM EST

I say we all boycot FX It is not right to take away a show loved by so many. I was really angry when they cancelled DIRT now I am down right Pissed off! I even wrote a very polite letter as I am sure most of you did as well requesting the at least bring it back to finish the story line. But they left us hanging!! Screw em down with fx!!

Kay Wed, May 27, 2009 at 06:48 PM EST

I've been patiently waiting for the next season as this has been one of my absolutely favorite shows in decades. FX made a serious mistake in cancelling. Maybe another network will pick up?

Jean Mon, May 25, 2009 at 11:59 PM EST

Real sad!!! The Riches was a quality show, up there with "Big Love". I had this set on my TIVO too. Who are they surveying when they make these decisions? They didn't even bring any closure to the series. Shame on you, FX!

tim Sun, May 24, 2009 at 11:32 PM EST

I haven't been so intrigued by a show since 'twin peaks' - a real shame that it's cancelled. I planned my week around the episodes! Has the lowest-common-denominator, fast-food culture won out...will it be yet another lame-a$$ reality show filling in?

Gayla Davenport Sun, May 24, 2009 at 05:20 AM EST

I hate it so much that we will no longer be entertained by such an awesome show. I looked forward every week to seeing this and completely getting caught up in all the drama. FX has lost one of the best shows on television. I don't know why it was taken off, but they lost out on a big hit series.

Ed Brock Tue, May 19, 2009 at 10:44 PM EST

Well, that is just freakin' typical! I wonder if, again, this excellent show did well on DVRs while losing live ratings, which is what happened with Terminator. TV execs need to adjust their formulas, and stop playing games with our hearts!
Buffers!

lauren Tue, May 19, 2009 at 10:16 AM EST

Unbelievable! "Over There," "Thief," "Dirt" and now "The Riches!" In my opinion FX hits the nail on the head with every one of their shows but yet they continue to get cancelled. My husband and I are getting to the point where we refuse to pick up any new shows because EVERY time we love a show it gets cancelled.

Steve Fisher Tue, May 19, 2009 at 04:18 AM EST

I can't believe those buffers at FX cancelled this brilliant and original show.

EvilEmpire Mon, May 18, 2009 at 03:50 PM EST

Jesus, this bs is getting so ridiculous. I just can't fathom why they keep getting rid of great shows like this, and then you read that 'Dollhouse' (one of the shittiest shows ever) gets picked up for another season. Same with Terminator, heard that a great show, and just read that it's getting canceled as well. It's about time these networks got some younger blood to sit in these executive meetings because these old farkers making all the decisions are really clueless about what good tv really consist of. let me guess, they'll make up some other friggin dumb a$$ reality show to stick in its place.

Lauren Sun, May 17, 2009 at 10:37 PM EST

Hello FX, are you reading?! Bring this show back already.

Lori Sun, May 17, 2009 at 02:27 AM EST

I am very dissapointed. I have watched since day one and this show was unique.I liked how well written and original it was. Instead now I am stuck with 10 different versions of the same law enforcement show. At least I can remember that I watched it. ;)

ak Sat, May 16, 2009 at 10:33 PM EST

I totally agree with everything Stef says (from May 8) -- I was wondering why we never heard about this great, absorbing and well-written and acted show.

So long, Fox. You can stick to the depth of "Bones" which boggles the mind.

Jason Sat, May 16, 2009 at 03:12 AM EST

OMG all of the shows that are really epic and smart are going away... The Riches was completly awesome.. Bring it back. And as for SoA. That show rocks. It is so good that it will probably get cancled as well. Because the corporate snakes that be don't know talent, a good story line or even a show that has loyal viewers. Much like NBC they all pretty much suck!

Mia Fri, May 15, 2009 at 11:46 PM EST

Bring back the riches!!! It was an awesome witty show that was brilliant on every level.

AMT Thu, May 14, 2009 at 07:28 AM EST

I'm so sad I really love to watch the Riches it was the best show that FX has on it so you should bring it back before its to late. Peace

Jessica Wed, May 13, 2009 at 09:41 PM EST

Wow, what a huge mistake that was. That show seemed to have great potential. That makes me super sad =(
And makes me lose some respect for the network =x Sorry FX/Fox.

planet janet Wed, May 13, 2009 at 04:16 PM EST

I had an uneasy feeling when it was taking much too long for the teasers to start for the new season of The Riches. I am extremely sad to see there will be no third season. This is a great show. Eddie (Doug) is just captivating, and I couldn't wait to see what Cousin Dale was going to do next. Add in the rest of the fabulous cast and their quirks and (hidden)agendas, I just assumed this show would be around for quite some time. I think that non-renewal was a huge mistake by FX.

Rita L. Sun, May 10, 2009 at 06:28 PM EST

Just wanted to say that there was a "it" with the sh and a "l" with the di do.

Rita La Fleur Sun, May 10, 2009 at 06:22 PM EST

Damn, I loved that show!!!Eddie "Was" so funny and Minnie a nut. Well, anything coming up besides Hospital and Cop shows? Gimme a break on that sh!!! Now all we have are wack job shows like Kendra the Di do Show.

Stef Fri, May 8, 2009 at 02:25 PM EST

Too bad, very sad. Turns out TURNER (TNT) is more saavy than a FOX (FX). TNT, at least, has the smarts to hold "The Closer" as a gem in their crown. With the DEARTH of original writing and truly gifted actors on the telly, one would THINK (yes, read THINK) those sitting in $1000 ergonomically correct corporate chairs would THINK to hang on to the Good Stuff. No? Thinking is not a requisite to corporate laddering? Ahhh. I understand. Alas, I shall continue enjoying The Closer....on another network. And, for me, it becomes "Fox...who?" Unless, of course, you Fox-folks are reading this and THINK a moment at the gem you are flushing down the drain. I hope YOUR boss reads this and raises you one. Izzy and Minnie's lives shall go on beautifully, with or without you. Oh..yes...because they are beyond the pale with talent. Either could stare into a camera reciting the alphabet and I would stay tuned. And consider the commercials supporting same. Seriously.
Seriously.

anna johnson Sat, May 2, 2009 at 10:09 PM EST

OMG!!!!! BRING BACK THE RICHES!!!!!

prolender1 Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 06:24 AM EST

What can i add to this blog that hasn't already been said: witty, fresh, smart, bold, even a bit brash! Wow! I can't figure out in my mind how or why FX would have removed this show from it's line-up. The very reason I watch FX is for shows that are just a little more adult for the adults in the room but classy & smart enough for dinner conversation. Damn it! Whatever happened to Keen Eddie as well?

Krissy & Spence Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 10:25 PM EST

We're really disappointed to learn that "The Riches" has beed cancelled.
This was one of t.v.'s most original, well-acted shows! Eddie Izzard is a genius with dramedy and Minnie Driver gave an amazing turn as a homebound traveler. The young actors in the cast along with the meddling next-door neighbor were also really talented, realistic actors outside of the Hollywood bubble of packaged "talent." We will never pass
a motorhome without thinking of this excellent cast and memorable show!

taylor Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 04:04 PM EST

WTF!! i feakin loved that show! it was wayyy better than all the crap they hav on tv these dayz!! damn u fx!!!

Jimmy Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 05:53 PM EST

This show was too good to be true and then FX just decided to cancel it and keep crap shows like nip tuck? I'm extremely disappointed. Finally a really unique show to come to television and it gets axed after one and a half seasons just as it was getting really good. It's a damn shame...bring it back.

Ken F Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 06:58 AM EST

What a great show! Nothing like it out there, and you don't get to see talent like this on television. Eddie Izzard has got a couple of movies he's working on and Minnie Driver just had a kid, so the studio was struggling to secure their availability. They didn't have to cancel the show, postpone it until your actors are ready to go. What a shame with all of the useless and hideous programming that is on, it seems that anything with a hint of quality is just thrown away. I did read something said about a movie... Even if the studio execs aren't smart enough to bring the television show back I would love to see the series wrapped up some how. What is this, trying to one-up HBO with a cut to black and cancellation on a mid-season cliff hanger? Really? Thanks FX, that's just great.

chrissy Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 12:55 PM EST

This show was awesome! I cant believe it was canceled! This was one of the best shows on TV! Im so disappointed in FX!

Dude Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 11:21 PM EST

Do the people that make the decisions ever watch the show? Or, does the "Neilson" boxes make the decisions for them? Throw the boxes away and make a call yourself! That's what you're paid for.

Adam R. Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 02:50 PM EST

I concur with so many others here. I don't even watch that many shows. "The Riches" and "Rescue Me" were the two most original, refreshing, magnificently acted, and brilliantly scripted shows I've seen in a long time. Sorry to see it's down to one. Please Fox, reconsider, market it better, and start the first two seasons over again - I know this can be a long-term hit. Just a wonderful show. My best to all 7 of the major actors (including the neighbor and the boss). Great work.

Eric Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 02:22 PM EST

This is so lame. I was just thinking to myself that I haven't seen any commercials regarding the 3rd season, so I decided to google the show. I come to find out it was cancelled. Was an amazing show for the 2 seasons they had. Will me missed for sure. :/

Eric Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 02:21 PM EST

Lucy Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 08:19 AM EST

This is an utter shame--one of the best TV series I've ever watched. A brilliantly written and executed plot line---PLEASE reconsider, Fox!!!

frigan Sun, Apr 12, 2009 at 09:29 PM EST

Have watched a lot of television having grown up in the US. This was by far one of the smartest, deepest shows ever. Am so tired of networks not seeing the big picture and realizing that they are, in fact, cinema to the masses. 'The Riches' was shot as a movie and play all rolled into one every week. Eddie and Minnie et all...it just doesn't get any better. You FX executives....let me guess...30/40 somethings with very little living outside the box, yes? Well, if you really cancelled this show, you missed out on my advertising dollars for my demographic. Sorry, not going to tell you...will only say that 'you lose'...big time.

J in Indy Sun, Apr 12, 2009 at 05:43 PM EST

Finally a show worth watching with great characters & and an outrageously cool story line and now that I'm waiting to see the schedule, instead I find out that it's gone. This is a travesty! What next?? It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia??

Cynthia Moody Thu, Apr 9, 2009 at 08:22 AM EST

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY HAVE TAKEN 'THE RIHES' OFF. I'VE CHECKED FOR THIS SHOW EVERY FEW MO. AND NOW YOU SAY IT HAS BEEN CANCELED. THIS SUCKS & MOVING NIP/TUCK TO L, A. SUCKS!!! PLEASE BRING THE RICHES BACK1 THANK YOU!

Joanne Mayfield Wed, Apr 8, 2009 at 08:21 PM EST

I AM VERY DISAPOINTED THAT THE RICHES SERIES HAS BEEN CANCELED. I TRULY ENJOYED ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY ALL ENCOUNTERED AND HOW THEY ALL HANDLED THEMSELVES.IT WAS A JOY TO WATCH. I AM DISAPOINTED IN YOU FX

jim tristani Wed, Apr 8, 2009 at 01:54 PM EST

again the best show get axed while garbage continues;this is typical of this network

Scott Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 09:33 PM EST

watching Rescue Me thinking about the Riches and I find this out, FX what are you bringing out new? No Shield, no Dirt, No Riches. At Least Rescue Me is still on.

robert Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 04:35 PM EST

I was getting suspicious of how long it was taking to come back, googled the riches cancelled and here i am. NOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!

julie Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 01:42 AM EST

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! i'm JUST finding out that this is official!!! i still have my series recordings set up on my TIVO for this show!!!! i'm so, so SO SO SO BUMMED!!! any chance they might bring it back if people sign a petition????!!!! ugh! so bummed!!

Jack Fri, Apr 3, 2009 at 11:51 PM EST

I concur with everybody's comments below. This was a terrific show. Very smart and witty. It was one of a kind. Fresh and unique material which portrayed a different spin on life. It is a shame that it was canceled. After the last episode (7) every viewer was left hanging...If anyone at FX is reading all these comments, wake up and finish the riches. Do it for yourself and do it for us...we need the riches!

Stephen Fri, Apr 3, 2009 at 05:34 PM EST

This was one of the most interesting shows on TV. I absolutely don't understand why crap like American Idol makes it and a show like this doesn't. We must deserve all of the "reality TV" since we obviously don't know how to treat brilliance when we encounter it.

Carrie Thu, Apr 2, 2009 at 09:13 PM EST

This sucks !! No more Riches. Best show on TV in ages. So much CSI and stuff like that and reality shows. Bored...

Dan Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 11:03 PM EST

That sucks i got really into this show they should at least wrap things up with a movie or something

Robin Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 09:21 PM EST

what- why?? Can't believe you took this show off. I have been looking forward to season 3 since the minute season 2 ended. Very disapointed in FX. Bring it Back! Please

DeeBF Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 08:41 AM EST

So disappointing. Very few shows that I follow anymore, because just get so into them and they just yank them out from under you -- this was without a doubt one of the most unique shows on television. I'm sure they just replace it with another cop show or reality show. Back to reading books for me, I guess.

Denise Heimstead Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 07:52 PM EST

This is why I dropped cable and just watch PBS. I am so sick of tv stations canceling shows before they even have a chance to get an audience (showing only a few episodes every few months and then piggy backing with other shows does not help). I am to the point where i wait for the dvd to come out so i can watch it w/o commercials and w/o waiting weeks on end for a new episode. I thought since i waited two months to get the first season off Netflix, because of the long wait, that I was safe in liking the show. Guess I was wrong. I the networks need to realize that not everyone likes reality shows and crap like the themes of "Gossip Girl", 90210, Grey's, etc.

Liz Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 09:59 AM EST

I am very dissapointed. I just finished watching Season 2 episode 7, but there are no further DVD's available. Did the Riches finish filming all of Season 2? I really enjoyed this program, it was exciting to think of being a traveler. It also, gave a new perspective to being a "Buffer" LOL Please bring it back!

zac Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 10:44 PM EST

Wow, this is cancelled? so sad...I usually am "up to date" on these events. Somehow I missed this a few months back, but apparently I'm not the only one wondering when S3 would start and using google only to find that it never will. :( Its a shame people didn't recognize the quality - the leads were two of the best on TV (maybe 2nd and 3rd in all of TV behind Michael C Hall on Dexter).

devin Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 12:38 PM EST

Me and my wife have watched this show from the beginning always counting the days to the next show and months to the next season. Only to find that its been cancelled? That's crap!! I feel like throwing my damn tv through fxs ceos window at his head!!!!

bill Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 09:10 PM EST

Wake up America ! You can now see the Riches live from the White House on an hourly basis. The first time a family moved in and did'nt have a clue as to what they were doing!

Alexis Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 08:00 PM EST

Please bring this show back!! It was amazing!! The show was so different from everything out there and I really enjoyed the past two seasons. Now I will never learn about the mysterious Quinn!!! Please bring it back!!!!!

Robbin Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 12:25 AM EST

I wonder if the execs even look at these things, because folks are still looking for the show and we still want it back!

KDB Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 04:24 PM EST

WTF? The Riches was the best show I've seen in a long time. So original and entertaining. I can't believe it's cancelled. :'( I started watching it as soon as it came out. In the midst of moving and other prior commitments, I lost track of it after the first season. I told my fiance all about it and talked him into renting the first two seasons with me. We just finished season 2 yesterday. He's completely hooked and now I have to go home and break his little heart. If FX is too naive to see how great this show is, maybe some other network will pick it up and put on a silver platter where it belongs. I can't even express my disappointment right now. I will keep a tight hold onto the tiny bit of hope that I have of its return. Hey, remember Family Guy was cancelled after the first season, then they made a movie that was so "in demand" that it was back on the air in no time. Please please please give us more of The Malloys and company.

Jessica Fri, Mar 27, 2009 at 06:36 AM EST

I LOOOOOVE THIS SHOW! 8[
please bring it back its soo good

Brian Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 11:39 AM EST

Please bring back "The Riches" for at least one more season!

brett reinhardt Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 11:54 PM EST

i totally feel the same way...i was really into this it disappeared for no reason...such a great, rare comedy to fall apart

CK One Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 04:02 PM EST

I so loved this show. Why did it go away? What can we do to bring it back? This show was like a drug and now that it is gone, I am going through DT's right now. HELP...

David Tue, Mar 24, 2009 at 11:16 PM EST

reason why I watched the show was Izzard. love him and gtreat performances from other crews esp. Driver.

I have nothing to do but "BUMMER THIS SUCKS"

:(

Lori, Indiana Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 07:39 PM EST

WOW! Just started searching to find out when to program the DVR for a new season. What a bummer, as I see a lot of people were faithful watchers of The Riches. It was the only show we faithfully watched, and after losing our home last year, I felt like I could sort of relate with the characters Dahlia and Wayne (not that we are "Travelers" however:). I'm totally and utterly disappointed in Indiana.

Debbie Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 02:06 PM EST

I can't belive this. I just found out the Dirt has been cancled and now I fine out the The Riches has been cancled too. Why is it that the networks get rid of the good shows and keep the crap ones. I have been waiting for a year for these two shows to come back, and I just can't belive that two more good shows are gone. I guess if it's not a reality show then nobody wants it.

cindy hanzal Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 12:09 AM EST

this is crap i love this show.i have been waiting a yr for the next season i am very mad if it doen't return.

kelly Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 02:32 AM EST

utterly absurd. there are so many wasteful shows on FX and they keep them and cancel the great ones. this just shows you America's runned by idiots. ================PETITION TO FX============, it might not be too lete.

Robb Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 03:48 PM EST

Man, this has been a bad day. First I find out that life on mars was cancelled now I find out that the Riches is done for as well. Why is it that we can't have orignal shows with original storylines but we can have 3 different CSI's? Please save the Riches.

Annie Tue, Mar 17, 2009 at 01:54 PM EST

UNBELIEVABLE!!! THIS SHOW WAS AWSOME!!
Get that stupid Damages off the air. Noone wants to see Glenn Close or Ted Danson anyway. They're too old for these roles. Keep the shows that let us escape reality for an hour, Riches, Nip/Tuck and even Dirt!!

Spike Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 06:28 PM EST

Great.....everytime I like a show, someone who thinks they know more (TV Exec...UHHHHH! LOSERS!) ups and cancels it. Don't they listen to the viewers. Now what is there to left to watch..CNN...Not in my lifetime.

You 're Fired Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 06:07 PM EST

Nice show but the casting was expensive. It should have gotten another 12 epi

dorothy Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 04:44 PM EST

I can't believe it! Finally we get an interesting fun series and it goes belly up! Who makes these decisions?

Jason Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 02:47 PM EST

This is bullshit. The show was actually a hit in my book. I turned several friends onto the series and they loved it. Out of all the reality shows & drama series shows, this was one I looked forward to watching weekly & seasonally. Sorry to hear about it, another station ( FX ) making a bad mistake.

jHood93 Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 12:54 AM EST

This is bull.
There aren't any good programs on FX except The Riches.
Nip Tuck is just plain horrendous but this one was actually good and hilarious. I swear as soon as I heard this I was so pissed.
Obviously there is no point in even having this channel.
So screw Fx!!! I am rebelling until The Riches comes back, and if it doesn't, then I will evidently won't bother ever going on that channel again. Dumbasses.... I miss Aiden Mitchell (hope he plays Artemis Fowl btw!!)=D

Tracy Manson Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 05:47 PM EST

Oh I'm so disappointed. I don't watch much TV---started watching this BECAUSE of Eddie--(didn't hurt that M.Driver is fantastic)ugh! Who MAKES these decisions? Did it have anything to do w/ Ms. Driver getting preggars & needing time off? Hope not. What a Network mistake. Anxious to see what Eddie does next.Minnie's motherhood move won't get her an Emmy nod-but it's the sweetest gig! Good luck to the whole cast.

Jamie Corns Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 04:50 PM EST

I'm going to miss this show. The first season was excellent... it did seem like the second season was getting convoluted, but I was hoping it would return for a third season.

Heather **VEGAS Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 04:55 AM EST

YOUR DUMB!!!!!!

Heather**VEGAS Sat, Mar 14, 2009 at 04:53 AM EST

Well FX you are freakin DUMD!! You wouldn't know a good tv show if it bit you in the A$$!!! "nip-tuck", nip it in the bud and tuck it away in the warehouse,"rescue me" YA FROM YOUR TV SHOWS!!!! Taking "THE RICHES" off all that did was cause MORE "damages" your network!!! I HATE YOU & YOUR LOUSY CHOICES, THINKING YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO WATCH..... FIRE SOMEBODY & HIRE SOME BRAINS, CAUSE YOU NEED 'EM!!!!!!
F^(k YOU VERY MUCH & HAVE A LOUSY NETWORK!!!!! JERKS!!!

Leah Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 06:01 PM EST

So f*%^ed up! I'm gonna miss it. It was one of the best among the crap that the rest of us would deem not even mildly amusing and watchable.

breezesong Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 11:43 AM EST

I am more than outraged...I have been waiting for this season to start and have heard nothing until I saw this article. I loved this show...the onely good show on Fox!!! I am so disappointed...

Tim Wed, Mar 11, 2009 at 09:46 PM EST

Good show. poor choice to cancel. Izzard & Driver deserve better.

hk Wed, Mar 11, 2009 at 04:42 AM EST

I had high hopes for this show but in the end I was disappointed by it's political activism. It was just too unbelievable for me to see a pro-gay agenda thrown willy nilly into the plot line. Hey, I'm not anti-gay, but for these characters to be so pro-gay? Oh come on. These were people who were of such low character that they stole money from innocent people for a living, but the next thing you know, they're preaching that one should be understanding towards gay rights. It just wasn't believable. It just didn't fit. And it made me feel like I was being played. Which, of course, I was. Again, I'm not anti gay rights, but I watch drama to be entertained, and incongruent character behavior is never entertaining.

Cheryl Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 06:53 PM EST

What is wrong with tv execs?! None of them know when they have a good thing - they are NOT tuned into the viewers (although they think they are). Another really good series tossed out like old bathwater! Twin Peaks and Arrested Development are more good examples of cuts that shouldn't have been cut!!! And the fans continue to wait and wonder. I thought FX would be different, I guess not.

adam Mon, Mar 9, 2009 at 09:48 PM EST

That was the best show on your network

mike from michigan Sun, Mar 8, 2009 at 02:37 PM EST

I have been waiting and waiting for this show to come back on and now see that it is cancelled. This was a great show and I am really disappointed.

I am OUTRAGED. I have been waiting and waiting for the next season. I think this just goes to show you that the t.v. "people" are just not ready for the brilliance of Eddie Izzard. They prefer to put on garbage (all soap opera mentality). They could have moved the show to a later slot and at least we would have been able to record it!!!!! More disappointment in whomever chooses the selection. Argh!

Actually, The Riches was starting to get really far fetched, slow, and boring. I'm kinda glad it's gone.

I don't get it!!! American Idol is on the air for HOW LONG??? But, any show that has some intelligence in it, ie: The Riches & Pushing Daisies gets cancelled!!!!!!!! People just can't get a grip on any show that makes 'em think!!

Phenomenal writing and acting on the Riches. What a shame. It was the best, most engaging show on TV. BRING IT BACK!!!!

I am saddened by the cancellation of The Riches. I was just saying to my husband the other day "I wonder what happened to the Riches?" Now I know, sigh! Minnie and Eddie you both ROCK!

I absolutely adored The Riches. The characters were the BEST. I was completely intrigued by ALL of them. Why, oh why, can't they bring it back???

I just can't stand it. This was by far the best show on tv and FX gave it a stupid time slot. I can't believe they've canceled it.

I did not hear anything about the Riches so I figured I would do some searching and found out it was canceled. Boy am I pissed off. This was an outstanding show with great acting and great character development. I looked forward to it every week.

Unbelievable. We went out and bought season one to share with our friends. We wanted them to be caught up, as we were. They fell in love with the program as well. They watched the abbreviated second season and are now ragging to me about more episodes. “Where are THE RICHES?” And I have to reply…. “Nope. Gone” Then I am asked if the rest of the series will be continued on DVD for us to at least see how it ends. Well FX,,, thanks for ripping us off. We made the decision and bought the DVD of season one, with the intent to add to add on for a complete story. You owe me for that season. This is so wrong. This purchase is now equal to buying a DVD movie, with only the first 20 minutes available for viewing, and the rest just blank. How would you feel if you purchased a book, and only 40 pages of the 500 page book were printed? You would want a refund or the completed story issued. That’s how we feel. What good is one season? To anyone who has purchased the DVD, FX owes us a complete refund since we were enticed to buy a story which you provided no ending to. How professional is that, FX ? Is that how you reward your fans? Please explain yourself. Why do I sense my plea for an answer from FX will not be provided. Not here, or by completing the storyline of THE RICHES on air. I have deleted the FX channel from my TV lineup. And to Eddie Izzard, Minnie Driver and the rest of the cast of The Riches, best of luck to all of you in the future. Thanks for keeping us entertained, even if it was only for a short time. You made us forget our problems and smile. You rock and you will be greatly missed.

Bad decision FOX! I was searching for when the new episodes would be airing and I find out it's been CANCELLED! Good grief. Thanks for nothing.
