Exclusive: CBS Extends 'The Mentalist'

Oct 6, 2008, 10:54 AM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: The Mentalist

Thementalist__lEven a fake psychic could've seen this coming: CBS has inched closer to granting a full-season order to its freshman smash The Mentalist, ordering six additional scripts for the Simon Baker-led drama.

The move comes as The Mentalist has emerged as this season's only surefire hit. In its first two outings, the show has won its time slot with an average 15.4 million viewers.

An official back-nine order, which would bring The Mentalist's season 1 episode total to 22, could come as early as this week. Meanwhile, I'm still on the fence about whether to season-pass this thing. Please submit your pro/con arguments below.

jackie Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 06:34 PM EST

I like the show; I think Simon Baker does well in this role and the show overall is really good. I am dissapointed though at CBS for ripping off Psych, which I have been an ardent fan of for a long time. Couldn't CBS be more original?

Sharyl Mon, May 18, 2009 at 06:57 AM EST

I love the mentalist & would love to know someone like Simon personally. Please give this wonderful show many more years.

Madison Mon, Feb 16, 2009 at 08:19 PM EST

I really love this tv series. I hope it continues much more than just one season. :)

Grace Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 05:45 PM EST

I really like the show. It got my curiosity going and after a little research on what a real "Mentalist" does and rapid hynosis, makes it fun to watch for Jane's methods. Its also fun to see if I can spot the clues on the show since you see what Jane sees. Great casting to have Simon Baker protray Jane. His smile makes him look so innocent yet his methods are rather devious as he manipulates those around him. I can't imagine another actor playing the part.

D Sat, Dec 6, 2008 at 04:52 PM EST

Love the show!! Disagree about Tuney, think her and Simon are great.

Mel Thu, Nov 20, 2008 at 11:41 AM EST

I agree wih the people on the NON-chemistry of Simon and Tuney. She is just not likable in this role. He seems to have more chemistry with the redhead. I like the supporting cast but I think they need more to do with the cases. They don't quite have the team thing going yet but I think given tme they could be a great assemble, just replace Tuney.

KANANI Thu, Nov 13, 2008 at 04:22 PM EST

IT'S GOOD TO SEE SIMON BAKER BACK ON T.V.! I REALLY ENJOY THE SHOW & THINK IT'S A HIT!!!HOPE IT HAS A LONG RUN. MR.BAKER IS TRULY ADORABLE!

Yvonne Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 12:06 AM EST

I enjoy seeing Simon Baker in his own show. I think he's a wonderful actor, and I enjoy watching the show.

Bob Brown Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 10:43 PM EST

It seems most of the people here giving raves reviews are just women creaming over the lead actors looks. Nobody is comparing the two shows like they are identical. What I ^Hate^ about this show is that it stole the premise of show that has been on the air for 3 entire seasons. CBS and the producers of this Farce are scum bags. It's no wonder that all the truely unique and great programming is coming from the cable side of television.

Travis Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 03:36 PM EST

Oh my gosh, this show is great! The other comments are right, get off the fence now, man! This show is G.R.E.A.T., there are not two ways about it!!!

Colleen Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 02:27 PM EST

I love this show and I have loved Simon Baker since his Guardian days. I'm so glad he's back.

Mercedes Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 01:26 PM EST

Haven't you picked up on the obvious clues? It's a hit!

Susan Andrade Wed, Oct 8, 2008 at 06:55 AM EST

Get off the fence! This is a great show.Smart, interesting, with a few laughs thrown in for good measure. Simon Baker is back and better then ever!

CC Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:09 PM EST

I like it. Simon Baker really makes the show stand out for me. The rock-paper-scissors scene was funny.

Pepper Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:53 PM EST

'Love this "cerebral" show! And love, love Simon Baker! Only thing I really can't stand is the female lead--is this (she) the best they could come up with for "Patrick?" He's so interesting and she's so...boring, predictable, not enjoyable to watch, etc., etc., etc. Keep "The Mentalist!" but change some of the uninteresting supporting cast!

Elise Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:06 PM EST

Love Simon Baker...he is aging beautifully...and the show is good...but PSYCH is just so much funnier and, well, more entertaining.

bootsycolumbia Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 05:16 PM EST

I like this show, but I find it a little predictable. As for Robin Tunney, I think the problem is how the character is written. I've seen her is some other stuff and she's a good actress, but I get tired of the cliched "female boss=hard as nails" stereotype. Loosen her up a wee bit, and you have some good chemistry between the leads and an improved show.

HuskerGirl Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:58 PM EST

Love, Love Simon Baker. (Especially the real Aussie Simon Baker doing the voice overs at the end...)

melissa Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:53 PM EST

isn't this show more or less a rip-off of psych on usa?

Faylinn Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 04:15 PM EST

This is one of the shows I watch with my mom - she has a big crush on Patrick already, although it doesn't quite rival her crush on Charlie from "Life". :P
-
I think the show is good so far, and I'll be interested to see how everything goes when it gets a chance to continue, stretch its legs and fall into a groove.

A J Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 03:25 PM EST

Absolutely LOVE anything with Simon Baker in it. (Am still mourning "The Guardian" and "Smith." LOL!) And what I really enjoy about this crime drama is it's cerebral. I find myself watching closely to see what Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) sees. And he gets SUCH a kick out of playing this character. You can just tell. It's so much fun to watch. The plots are secondary, IMO. The only "irritant"? Robin Tunney (sp)! She really "bugs" me. Another actress in this role, please.

Meredith44 Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 01:13 PM EST

I'm enjoying it so far. Would I be devastated if I missed an episode? No. However, I like the main character and am intrigued with his backstory; thus, I am willing to Tivo and watch it every week.
--
And I need to agree with the people who are saying to stop with the Psych comparisons. I do like and watch Psych, but except for the fact that both main characters are hyper-observant, there really aren't all that many similarities between the two shows, from characters to plots to tone.

Marie Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 12:41 PM EST

After seeing the commercials for this show, I couldn't wait for it start. I love it. Love Patrick too - he is definitely "eye candy."

Tracey Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 11:26 AM EST

I am pretty picky when it comes to television and I am truly enjoying this show. It has the right mix of an interesting premise, good acting, and a very affable leading man. My DVR is set to record the series, but I find myself watching it 'live'.

carol Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 10:13 AM EST

love it! Love him. Great and entertaining

Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 09:52 AM EST

love this show. i liked Psych... but i'm getting turned off by it just coz of all the people here who are "Psych is way better." annoying! Simon Baker... smoldering hot. =D

Maxine Brockway Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:51 AM EST

Anything with Simon Baker is great and The Mentalist is a "don't miss" show.

Vikki Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

It's a great show. Just the right mix of comedy and drama. I love it when he uses his talents to mess with people.

Christiefan21 Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 08:34 AM EST

I'm glad as I enjoy the Mentalist (though I also like Fringe - Walter is just too awesome). Love Patrick/Simon.

However what's with the idiots continuously comparing it to Pysch and won't watch it or hate it because "Pysch's better". It may have a similar-ish lead character but the tone and genre's completely different. I'm sure you're the same lot who dissed and refused to watch Moonlight because it was a rip-off from Angel, and refused to watch True Blood as it was a rip-off from Moonlight. Seriously!

pking Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:51 AM EST

I love Simon Baker in the Mentalist,
the story line is interesting, it has some humor, but not too over the top gory. Simon Baker was good in the tv show The Guardian and The movie Something New.

Veronica Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:48 AM EST

Love it. So glad one of Simon Baker's shows finally stuck. I was beginning to think he would be a Jerry O'Connell with a new pilot every year. I've been wanting to see more of Tunney since her recent appearance on House too. Even the supporting characters are great. All around good show.

Michelle Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 07:45 AM EST

I love this show and Simon Baker hurry up and air some new episodes. I like it that he is so funny.

Andrea Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:36 AM EST

Love this show, love Simon Baker. It's got good stories, subtle humor
(typical Aussie/Brit) and not too much gore. Glad it's going to be around!

Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 06:08 AM EST

What took so long for Simon Baker to get picked up again? Fabulous face, class demeanor with or without a story.

Charlie Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 05:23 AM EST

I hate cop shows, but this is the best thing since Columbo!

His smarminess is addictive. Sort of like Brad Pitt meets Norm MacDonald....

Tammy Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 02:42 AM EST

Just started to watch this show and I've got to say that I loved it. Simon Baker is awesome and I really enjoy his character. This is definitely one of those shows that should be watched. Great writing, great acting and great storylines. There's more to Patrick Jane that meets the eye, and I for one am loving finding out more about him.

Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 02:12 AM EST

I did think it would be a ripoff of Psych, but had nothing else goimg, so I taped it. It has a similar concept, but it's not Psych. Psych is a great, funny show. This guy is just mean...

Steve (Las Vegas) Tue, Oct 7, 2008 at 01:21 AM EST

I think Simon Baker is great. The mentalist is a great show with interesting story lines. i love his cocky if not confident demeanor on the show. He reminds me of myself a lot. Kind of funny. I also agree with an earlier post that The Guardian was a superb show.

Andrea Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 10:22 PM EST

Pro: Simon Baker's hot
Con: He's not naked

kiranks1984 Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 09:54 PM EST

Love it.............i knew this would be a hit..........and i see this show as a regular feature on CBS Schedule in coming seasons.....

mike Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 09:44 PM EST

I agree that along with life it has good scripts, I like it in a different way than psych which I like but sometimes gets to corny

A HUGE FAN Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 09:35 PM EST

The Mentalist, like "In Plain Sight", "Dexter" and "Life", has great scripts and a fascinating, tortured main character, and good chemistry among the supporting cast. I like when The Mentalist sets up the guilty person by giving them just enough rope to hang themselves or by causing poetic justice, i.e. the shooting death (by his own wife) of the man who kills his daughter, because she wouldn't sleep with him anymore and was going to ruin him. I look forward to more!

Victoria Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 08:50 PM EST

I like Psych AND the Mentalist, but don't see that the shows are very alike, other than the obvious premise. The tone of the two shows is very different. And the characters are not at all alike.
I've been a fan of Simon Baker since The Guardian (great, great show). He's such a good actor!

Luis PJ Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

The Mentalist is more of Monk then Psyhic, I still laugh that people still compare.

Malissa Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 08:01 PM EST

My husband and I both enjoy The Mentalist. It has the right balance of drama and humor. I don't know anything about Psych. The previews for that show never appealed to me. This one did. So I think I'll stick with this one. I hope it last for awhile.

Rebecca Braun Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:52 PM EST

Cool show !! I'm happy CBS ordered additional episodes but TM deserves the whole 22 episodes. All the cast is outstanding especially Simon Baker and Robin Tunney in particular !

Pamela Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:50 PM EST

The Mentalit is outstanding and Simon Baker and Robin Tunney are why in a nutshell :-) Patrick and Lisbon are generating great chemistry and it is easily the best new show of 2008 ..

dennis m costello Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:37 PM EST

i love this show. actually WE love this show... you only planed two shows...!? i'd starve to death with only two episodes! i also love human dynamics.

Kai Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:29 PM EST

Started watching this show because I watch anything with Simon Baker in it. LOL.

But I don't compare it to Psych because I don't like that show. And I have given it a try and cannot stand it. LOL.

But this show is so different then all the other law and medical dramas. It has spunk, it's clever, it's funny, and great chemistry among the core five. I personally am rooting for Wayne/Grace and Patrick/Teresa already!

Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:01 PM EST

I enjoy this show, and am looking forward to seeing the eventual capture of Red John. Also, not sure if anyone pointed this out yet, but did anyone else notice the similarity between the Red John Smiley and Strong Sad from www.homestarrunner.com?

Maureen Bloom Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 07:00 PM EST

I really like this show. Simon Baker is not hard to look at either. I hope that it takes the whole season to find out about Red John. I am glad that we are going to get a whole season to watch this good show.

Joy Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 06:55 PM EST

I don't hate the show because Baker is in it, but it is a poor cousin to the real deal - PSYCH! Those of you who have never watch that show, I ask you to please give it a try. It's ten times better than the Mentalist.

Candy Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 06:52 PM EST

He is soooooo good! I don't really care what he does - I'd watch it, but this show is fun to watch, he is just a bonus!

B Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 06:48 PM EST

I like the Red John angle and how that has made him who he is. I'm okay with the Psych stuff and I think I can have affection for both shows, no problem.

But the characters he works with? I couldn't pick most of them out of a lineup and I hate the boss.

Claire from Aus Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 06:21 PM EST

He's Australian, that's all I care about. It started here last Sunday night, was pretty good.

Just wish the Aussie actors didn't have to have to put on a phony American accent just to sound pro.

Stephen Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 06:06 PM EST

Yeah, I really loved the mentalist too....WHEN IT WAS CALLED PSYCH!!!!! Is everyone on this message board aware that CBS just ripped off a great show from USA? Seriously, why don't they just give the "mentalist" a token-black friend and be done with it. Don't believe me? Check it out for yourself: http://www.usanetwork.com/series/psych/theshow/overview/index.html

Pete Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 05:31 PM EST

Pilot was great but second episode proved to me it was going to slip quickly into shallow procedural mode. I might have stuck with it if it were on a slower night (e.g. Friday) but timeslot rivals Fringe and Privileged are both much more fun to watch and I can only record two shows at a time on my Tivo.

Ryan Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 05:25 PM EST

I for one and am incredibly happy. I think the whole Red John story is so interesting and gives us the opportunity to learn so much about the protagonist. I think the supporting cast is strong as well, and they all seem like interesting enough characters.

Looking forward to more of the Mentalist!

Cori Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 05:24 PM EST

I think the show is great and am glad that they will be doing more episodes. I look forward to watching The Mentalist and seeing the show blossom.

Carol Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 05:22 PM EST

I really like this show! Whether he's a fake or not - it's vastly entertaining. Let's hear it for DVR's! Have you guys taken that into consideration while counting viewers?

Alliea Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 05:06 PM EST

THANK GOODNESS!!!! I'm so relieved. This is my favourite show on TV (with the possible exception of Gossip Girl which is a guilty pleasure). I'm so excited that it will be sticking around!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

I had my doubts at first, but this is a more serious version of Psych and I really love Psych. And I'm craving to know who their serial killer with the sad/creepy smilie is.

BERT Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

I THINK THE SHOW SUCKS THE BEST TV SHOWS OUT OF THE 5 MAJOR NETWORKS ARE ON THE FOX NETWORK AND THE CW NETWORK I WOULD ASK PEOPLE TO CHECK THESE NETWORKS AND THIER SHOWS THANKS FOR ALL YOUR TIME

Chris Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

I like the show. I think Simon Baker's character is really intriguing and captivating. Not so much with his ablities but rather because of who he has become due to the traumatic experience in his life. I do agree with an earlier post however that he makes these assertions without explaination. I find that a little annoying at times. Am I suppossed to believe it because he said it? Sometimes it is a little hard to swallow. Also, I am sure this will change as the season goes on but the rest of the characters are very shallow. I like Robin Tunney. I think she is great but I know almost nothing about her character and she is a major character. I have no basis to relate to her. Given time I hope they develop her more and the rest of the CBI team.

dazed&confused Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:37 PM EST

I like this show, particularly episode two. The story carries the show, although I agree that Simon Baker is a good actor.

couchgrouch Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

if CBS likes this show I've got another concept for them...OCD detective solves crimes for San Fran police force. greenlight my pilot now!

Katie Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:20 PM EST

I think it's got the most potential of the season's new shows. Simon Baker, as most have commented, is very charming, and his character is different from the leading men in crime dramas that we're used to. As far as Robin Tunney goes, give her some time, people! Granted, she's not stellar so far, but sometimes actors need a few episodes (or sometimes a full season) to find their footing. For those of you who aren't sure, I'd say you should stick around for a few more weeks. I definitely will, I think it's great.

Alyce Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:13 PM EST

Anything with Simon Baker in it is worth watching! We loved him in The Guardian (never should have cancelled that show!) and other made-for-tv movies. The show has it's drawbacks (his boss), but keeps our interest and definitely has some twists and turns! Good for CBS putting SB back on tv in major series!!

Sina Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:11 PM EST

The ONLY reason to watch this show is because Simon Baker is so sinfully beautiful otherwise this show sucked to me. I haven't like Robin Tunney in again since that witch movie from like 12 years ago.

Kimmie G Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:09 PM EST

The Mentalist does have a season pass on my DVR, and I do love Simon Baker. I, too, would appreciate a little more insight into the character's observations, though not enough to make it easier for me to keep up with him. He's supposed to be smarter than the rest of us! I like to be surprised. I'll keep watching it, and am certainly glad to see this show picked up for more episodes. I believe that the TV gods must make amends for canceling "Smith."

Greg Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 04:08 PM EST

That glance Simon Baker's character gives Robin Tunney's at the end of the pilot was priceless. Good acting, good showing instead of telling ("So, does he STILL have a crush on her and hasn't told her?" is LAME) good chance at not sucking in a few weeks. My fingers are crossed.

Michael Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 03:31 PM EST

Great show! It's awesome! Woohoo!

Matan Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

The show is bad. It takes it self too seriously, it's heavy where it shouldn't be and its light moments don't work in their slightest. And he really never explains his deductions! it makes him look strange and pathetic, not smart.
And i can't care less for one, Simon Baker.

Matan Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

kathleen mae Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 03:08 PM EST

Great show........they seem to cancel all the good ones and leave the lame no brainers........this is a keeper

Joan M Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 03:05 PM EST

I liked Simon Baker on The Guardian and love him on The Mentalist. It's good to see him smile.
They need to replace his boss. She's boring and stiff.

teddie Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:38 PM EST

I enjoy watching the snake charmer aspect of Baker's character ooze out occasionally when required. I agree with the Robin Tunney sentiment - not sure it is all the actress's fault that her character is so cliche / blah / inconsistent / boring. The writers should take a cue from a show like Bones on how to portray strong female characters that are not 2 dimensional cutouts.

kirads09 Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

I have really enjoyed this show so far. I am so glad to hear of the success!! Smartly written. Very well acted.

Lina Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

I've picked up a season pass but it's not on my first-tier yet. It seems widely uneven. Is it charming or dark? I don't think it can be both. It seems to work best when they let Baker be charming and charismatic. I don't mind a little back story but this one is a little too dark and/or a little too recent. I dislike - beyond words - his boss. She is a cliche. Two episodes and I'm already tired of the angry scowl. Plus, does she believe him or not? More of that unevenness thing. Sometimes she believes him without discussion and other times she's argumentative about his 'hunches'. Make up your mind! I'm willing to give it some room for the writers and producers to find their footing but I'll be checking out long before the season finale if they don't resolve these core issues.

The characters

it works when it

Gregg Bartel-Bailey Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:12 PM EST

I like this show, and I typically don’t enjoy the cops/lawyers shows any more. While the show takes the concept of observation to an extreme, the premise is a valuable lesson to anyone—you can figure more things out by paying attention to details than you can if you don’t pay attention. I like the way they have written the main character—a bit on the edge yet looking to do the right thing.

I think the idea of your boss not buying into your insights is a bit odd, given he’s there because his insights and observations are right. I kept asking myself if she’s read the script to know he’s going to be right about people. Simon Baker seems to be a good fit for the role. The show flows smoothly and the pace of the action seems to fit well for what the show is trying to do. Not too fast, not dragging out on any one point.

I agree with the comment about how well things like the scene of beating the sheriff in rock/paper/scissors said a lot without any words.

Carol Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:04 PM EST

OMG! Simon Baker=HOT get rid of the girl, the too strained relationship between Simon and her=HIT SHOW.

bostonbean Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 02:04 PM EST

one of my favorite new shows as well, along with pushing daisies. glad to see simon baker finally found his place

Danielle Lynch Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:48 PM EST

This show is a fresh addition to the vast crime shows out there. As one of the few that is sick of the CSI's. I am amazed to find a series with the quality, cast and lead actor that a show needs. Simon Baker is a rare gem in a arena of many with rare talent. I am pleased that the network can see this and is focused a well written show that equals the caliber of Criminal Minds but also what the viewer want to watch every week. I love CBS.

Pekay Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:47 PM EST

SIMON BAKER!! That should be enough to get the show an entire season! Loved him in "The Devil Wears Prada" and love him even more now. He translates to the small screen well and that cute little twinkle/smirk thing is great.

Robert Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:40 PM EST

How can anyone say this is a copy of Psych is beyond me. It has much more similarities with Monk if you ask me.

Great show.

Max Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:34 PM EST

I really do like this show. Any chance we can get them to move it to Friday nights and spare us the agony of "The Ex-List"?

Mike Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:24 PM EST

I'm glad they extending the run. It's funny in some parts but dramatic. It's one of the new show I like.

Mike Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:24 PM EST

Joe Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:14 PM EST

If you've watched the pilot and aren't convinced to at least see the major 'Red John' series of episodes presumably spaced through the season, then there's something wrong with you. Whether you like the idea of the characters enough to stick with the show through the teething issues of most first seasons is up to you, but just remember that it's made by the guy who did Rome and if there's ever a name that suggested watching several episodes before judging, it's Bruno Heller. Hope that convinced you!

Sunny Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:08 PM EST

I hope the keep the snark and smirk in the show... it's fun and lively. Simon Baker, very easy on the eyes, gets it right. This is an entertaining show and I'm glad it's run has been extended

TexFan Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 01:03 PM EST

I agree that it is an attempt at imitating Psych, and have only seen one episode, and did not set my recorder to catch another one. The one saving grace is the lead actor, because I think he looks so much better with his eyebrows done. (Don't you remember him from "Devil wears Prada? Holy cow! His eyebrows looked like c r a p ! !)

Dennis Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 12:57 PM EST

The Mentalist is a cheap imitation of Psych. I'll watch the later and leave the former to fans of Simon Baker.

DS Mon, Oct 6, 2008 at 12:52 PM EST

I like the show. I really like Simon Baker. Good lord in heaven with the Psych! Okay already. Simon's character can be a little snarky, I think that will need toning down. Week after week it will get old. It would be helpful if once in a while, not always, his methods are explained/revealed. Two episodes and I'm beginning to think: how convenient. Too much, however, is a little to Scooby Doo (read: Psych). Robin Tunney... strong female character always means bad attitude and stone-faced. I agree with the person who said to quit hiring her. She was more watchable in the interviews about the show.

I've been watching Fringe with my husband, then going upstairs to watch the DVRed The Mentalist afterwards. I have enjoyed it so far - not the best of the best, but good enough to actually sit and watch versus just deleting it or fast-forwarding through it.

It's a decent show...
and 5 times better than most of the
existing shows out now.....

Love this show! Simon Baker is just so, beautiful . . .

I am actually very disappointed in Fringe. It surely doesn't deserve all the hype it gets.
