Evil has a new face on Supernatural, and it looks something like the dude to the left.
Okay, it is the dude to the left.
Character actor Mark Rolston (Aliens, Cold Case, Profiler, etc.) has been cast in the recurring role of Alastair, the latest demon hell-bent on terrorizing the Brothers Winchester. His first airdate is Nov. 13.
The original breakdown for Alastair described him as a “calm and composed demon with a placid smile that belies his simmering sadism and evil. He’s one of the top demons in Hell. He’s electrifyingly powerful.”
In other words, he’s scarier than Lilith, right? Not necessarily, says a Supe source. “He knows Lilith from Hell, but it’s unclear exactly which of them is the big Big Bad — or if it’s even one of them,” whispers my snitch. “There are a lot of new mythological elements and characters coming into play this season.”
My guess? The dude outranks Lilith. You agree? Disagree? And regardless of where he fits into Hell’s hierarchy, you have to admit this is a pretty cool piece of casting.

I think he will end up being more powerful than Lilith, but I REALLY want to know about the little bomb shell Castiel dropped. You know, about Lucifer… Will we ever meet him? Gah!

I don’t care who they get to play who. I’m with Jenny; this show just keeps getting better.I was wondering how Dean was going to come back from hell. This show is absolutely awesome! I never miss an episode. but just in case I do, the DVR is on stand-by. Thanks for the inside scoop.
This is a great addition…..personally, I never felt they established Lilith too well, not as much as ol’ yellow eyes that is, and I think Rolston will play a great demon (just want him to utter the line “has anyone come at you” from Shawshank). As far as Lucifer, I just hope Prison Break is off the air so William Fincher can play Lucifer – I think he could be great…
Each season the bond between these two actors as brothers is stronger and more believable, and the writing is fantastic. Every time I think I couldn’t love this show more than I already do, along comes an episode that proves me wrong. I’m looking forward to seeing this season play out in a big way. Keep up the great work, Supernatural!
I’m sure hell has conflict. It is hell after all. Maybe Lilith and this new guy are rivals, seeing which one can raise Lucifer first? A third side to the war so to speak?
Okay, the new Ruby is offically made up for. First you get awesome Misha Collins for awesome Castiel, then you get Mark Rolston for Alastair? Oh show, I love you!

Whoa Don T.!!! That would like “robbing Peter to pay Paul”. Prison Break is my other favorite show, it can’t work without him. But I do agree with you that he would perfect for the role. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind 2 checks

OMG I’m speechless this is such good news I think i’m going to cry for joy!
I’m not feeling this season so far. But the best episode was definitely the one with mutliple guest stars (the trip back in time, with Mitch Pileggi etc). The next ep was terrible – same old back and forth between the brothers, it honestly felt like soap opera. So, this casting news is great – more interesting characters to mix up what is becoming a bit of a stale dynamic -for me, anyway. Just my opinion, of course, and I’m glad others are still enjoying it.
I can’t believe that anyone would say that this season isn’t good!!! I think this is possibly one of the best seasons yet!!! I love this show and I think they are doing a great job with casting.
I don’t know maybe there is another top dog bigger than either of them, like how Lilith couldn’t kill Sam maybe this dude was sent in to do the job, which means there is another Demon that is calling the shots.

Mark Rolston is probably the biggest casting guest actor so far on the show. Big success, huge boost for the show! So, the AGONY is about to begin guys.. After Thursday no more laughs. By ep. 9 Dean remembers everything and tells Sam what happened to him in you know where!!Hope they DON’T START WITH THAT BOYS SEPARATING, SECRETS STUFF.That’s my biggest fear..

Yawn. His menacing abilities on “Profiler” were equal to that of a wet blanket and he has no screen presence. Disappointing.
This season of Supernatural has been AMAZING indeed. I watch more than a dozen shows and this is the only one actually worth watching. I still think the Big Bad is going to be Lucifer himself-Lilith is trying to get him out
Castiel and Uriel vs Alastair and Lilith…and all of them being ‘hostile’ against Dean and Sam? But wait, the 3rd ‘half-demon’ is Sam himself! Demon Ruby was (originally) slated to be around until episode 5..hmmm. So is Lucifer ‘coming out’ from one of these regulars, Sam included? Can’t wait for S4’s cliffhanger already.
Agree with everyone – show is amazing this season.
I think this is the best season yet!! I love the story lines. After each ep I’m like “holy crap!”
