ABC has issued an early verdict on Eli Stone.
The ratings for tonight’s Eli premiere won’t be available until morning, but the network has already taken the unusual step of ordering four additional scripts of the sophomore legal dramedy.
“It’s an incredible vote of confidence,” gushes executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “I had told [ABC] that in order to keep production rolling [beyond Eli's initial 13-episode order], I would need to know by Wednesday [if they wanted more]. I figured at the very least that would give them a day’s worth of ratings to analyze. And they were like, ‘Nope, we’ll just order them now.’”
In other words, ABC is very happy with how the episodes are turning out, beginning with tonight’s season premiere. Speaking of which, did you watch? Was it everything you hoped for and more? Comforted by the faith ABC is showing in Eli? Comment away!

I haven’t seen it yet ‘CAUSE IT HASN’T EVEN AIRED YET!!! but this is very good news and I hope that ABC thinks the same thing about Pushing Daisies!!!
This makes me very happy! I love Eli Stone! I am surprised by ABC’s move though. They don’t usually do stuff like that. Now only if they would have a little faith in Pushing Daisies! Come on ABC you gotta have faith!!
Okay, I’m over here doing the happy dance. I love love LOVE this show. It’s well written, original, creative and all heart. I am beyond happy that the network who sometimes puts money before quality has gotten behind it so early in the game. I’m so proud of ABC and I will be watching tonight (no spoilers please! I’m westcoast;) Here’s hoping for another fantastic season of Eli Stone. It’s just that wonderful of a show.
This is a great show with great performances and lots of heart. Very happy to hear this news. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, just give it a chance- it’ll be worth it.
r u kidding me. clearly abc wants NBC to win this season cause that show was just puke…But boy do i love tina fey, shes so funny as the brainless presidential candidate, unno nbc is gonna win the 08-09 thx to her and snl
None of this matters. Jonny Lee Miller has been HOT ever since my fav flick Hackers!!! Train Spotting was also a great one too!!!
Any show that can throw an Alias reference in an episode with a bank name and make law likeable (and keep Victor Garber and Johnny Lee Miller on my TV set) deserves to stick around. Three cheers for Eli Stone.
I am watching it right now and so far, it is pretty awesome!
Eli Stone was my favorite new show last year, so i’ve been so excited about the new season and i’m glad to hear this news of 4 more shows! We really need some lighthearted, good wholesome shows like this -cause we are sorely lacking in that area these days, in my opinion!!
Credit Dauphine bank! *does a glee dance*
I just watched the premiere and I have to say it was better than all the premieres I have seen so far this season. The cast is phenomenal, and they seem much more “meshed” this season! Go ABC for realizing the potential this show has!
awesome premiere episode…so glad this show is back
Eli Stone was awesome tonight! Love this show and hope it sticks around for a long time
Another YAY for ABC. I find it wonderful that they are supporting the show. It’s really worth it — the premire was the bst I’ve seen this season, and it’s so wonderful to have it back.
I really enjoyed watching the premire of Eli Stone tonight…it made me realize how much I had actually missed the show! I’m glad to hear that more episodes are being produced because this show has so much potential and it is so different than anything else on tv right now. Is it just me or has Johnny Lee Miller become more beautiful?? hmmm..
Tonight’s show was great. Sigourney Weaver was a brilliant casting coup! I hope she returns. This is a great show and I am definitely an Eli Stone believer! And the opening scene with MS Divine and Eli dancing in the streets was superb!
LOVEEED the Eli Stone premiere!!!Very heartwarming and substantial. Having S. Weaver was indeed a great welcome. This is a show everybody should be watching – when we need a little more belief and faith in our lives today. I am glad for the issuance of extra scripts but i hope the ratings do well enough for the show to last a long long time. Must see Tuesday!
I was so excited for Eli Stone and it did NOT disappoint!
the way Eli sacrificed his brain for his brother and risked his job for Jordan was awesome. and Jordan’s become a changed man!
I’m loving this show!
Will there be more Tom Cavanaugh this season? He’s a great actor.
OMG it was sooooooo good tonight! i loved it!
I love this show! Great writing, acting and it is one of the few shows I have to watch every week! I loved the line Nate had tonight … If I get stalked by the other guy from Wham!!… Classic!!
This is a great show!
not only to it deliver great music and humor to balance the drama but it evokes emotions that touch my heart and i can’t say enough about how much i loved the show. it is well written, well casted, well directed, well well well Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat it is.
Great show. Curious about the actress playing Jordan’s wife(I believe his wife?) any idea of who she is and how to get her photo? Thanks…
I loved, loved, loved the season premiere! I’m so glad that ABC has ordered some more episodes; this is a series that needs to stay on TV.
Great news!! Great show!! Loooooved the first episode–can’t wait until next week
Personally thought it was ALRIGHT…
I need more MAGGIE AND ELI!!!!
I LOVE VICTOR GARBER!!!
What a wonderful season premier! Eli Stone is definitely back true to form and without missing a beat. I can’t wait for next week.
Great episode, glad to have it back. Although not usually a fan of Sigourney Weaver, she was perfectly cast in the premiere.
P.S. Greg, the actress playing Jordan’s wife was Debrah Farentino (formerly from Earth 2, NYPD Blue & EZ Streets to name a few of her credits).
I was so glad to have it back-how refreshing this show is-it was a bit confusing at the beginning but all was well by the end!!!
