After two seasons, the jig is up.
An FX spokesperson confirms that The Riches will not be returning for a third season.
The Eddie Izzard-Minnie Driver con-artist drama had been in limbo since the conclusion of the second season last April. Word of the show’s axing started to leak out last week when costar Todd Stashwick announced on his MySpace page that “The Riches has been canceled.”
Reaction? Anyone?

I wasn’t a fan. I was, however, gutted by the cancellation of Dirt.
Sorry to hear about The Riches, but am very pleased to hear that SONS OF ANARCHY has been renewed for a season two!
Oh, so disappointing. What a terrific show that was.
*grabs bugle and plays Taps sombrely*
I hope Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver find something else to do together, because I loved their chemistry. I consider the canceling of the show to be a casualty of the writers’ strike…it they’d had more time to find their footing in season 2 they might have made it.
Bummer, yet another great show canned!
LOOOOVED this show. Minnie and Eddie were wonderful together and the ensemble was tremendous! Although I wanted to see this show continue, I wondered how they would keep the ruse of “The Riches” going much longer. Cheers to the legacy it left.
yet shows like boston legal stay on the air… hate this though i knew it was coming
I was actually just talking to someone the other day about how great this show was and how much it sucked that the second season was cut short by the Writers Strike and how much I was looking forward to it returning…bummer!
(I’m also going to be selfish and say that I’d rather The Riches be a casualty of the strike than Breaking Bad…when is that returning, anyway?)

That’s a big bummer. Why would they cancel a show with two of the best actors on television? I also kinda wanted to see how this one ended…
I never got around to watching this show, it had an interesting premise.
and I am also excited about SOA renewal.
I found this program refreshingly different, and enjoyed it very much. I’m very sorry to see it go.
I’m really saddened to hear this. The series was brilliant and the ensemble cast was just perfect. I will dearly miss it. It’s too bad great shows like this are cancelled before their time, yet ones that are a waste of airspace are continually renewed.
I never watched this show either. Like Steven, the cancellation of Dirt upset me.
Add it to the What Would Have Happened?” list. Enjoyed the premise, but Sons of Anarchy has a bit of the same flavor.
Great show…I wish when shows like this are dropped that the networks would at least do a wrap up or closing show for all the fans that they did have
Oh! I am SO SAD! REALLY! I’ve been checking and checking looking for its’ new season to be listed. This was a unique show and the characters were GREAT!Sad, sad, day.
Once again, a show that’s “too smart” gets axed. The examination of the American Dream and its fractured form was one of the most interesting things on TV, and the performances across the board were nuanced and fascinating – all three kids were just as captivating as the adults. This SUCKS!!!
NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo (panting)ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Totally lame!!! is like Arrested Development all over again. or Carnivale!!!!!! Ugh!!!!
Grrr!!!!
sigh… Now how is Minnie going to get herself an Emmy??? Eddie already has two!!!
Well hopefully Eddie can do another Stand up Special on HBO…
And yet trash like 90210 gets renewed… I just don’t get it!!!!
Yet another series that had a fabulous start with a new, novel idea that got too convoluted and overly complicated (probably due to too many cooks in the writing kitchen)to maintain its initial momentum. I can only hope that Izzard can be cast in a show that lets him be his sarcastic self without pretension. Will television never learn the lesson? Keep it simple, stupid…
loved it, am sad!
Saddened but not surprised. It was a show with a great premise that ocassionally had problems keeping it fresh, but the chemistry between Izzard and Driver was impecable. Also, their shortened-by-the-strike second season didn’t help either. Sad. I’m still waiting for Nip/Tuck and Damages to return.
Le *sigh*. Seriously sad to see it go. Eddie and Minnie had great chemistry. However, this frees up Eddie to do more stand-up gigs and it’s reminded Hollywood that Minnie is quite a talent… so I guess there’s a silver lining?
Another very good show is now gone before its time. The strike shortened second season didn’t help matters. Things felt rushed on the show in season 2. Hope to see its stars in other shows real soon.
This is terrible, hopefully the writers can tell us what would have happened.
I can’t believe that FX would be willing to lose these two stars.
Figures. Any show that has a great cast and intelligent writers seems to get the ax. These shows: Breaking Bad, Damages, Nip/Tuck, Dirt, seem to meet the same fate. Perhaps because they are sooooo long between seasons. Don’t know – but am sad to loose this one.
Not really. I bailed after Season 1. The only show that I’ve really been angry about its cancellation was Homicide. Love that show. I was a little mad when they cancelled Kidnapped, too.
This show was smart, humorous, and dark which equaled brilliance. I will pour a bit of my 40oz on the curb this evening in memory of a show that will be dearly missed.
wow…wish FX would give their unique series’ a chance…i liked DIRT too…geez-louise….yes–i’ll miss The Riches…(and Dirt too).
I did not catch this show from it’s beginning but love it and was looking forward to more. Just figures when a show catches the viewers. Some one who probably doesn’t even watch decides it’s fate a better time slot would really have worked for me. Maybe another network will see it’s potential and revive it. Minnie and Eddie you will be missed but not forgot.
