Consider this mystery solved: The Boston Legal vet accompanying Julie Bowen back to Crane, Poole & Schmidt this fall is none other than…René Auberjonois!
Like Bowen, Auberjonois (pronounced Mr. A) will appear in this season’s 10th episode — two shy of the show’s series finale. Unlike Bowen, Auberjonois never technically left Boston Legal — or at least his character, Paul Lewiston, never did. When last seen in December ‘07, Paul had begun scaling back his duties to focus on raising his daughter’s kid.
Of course, it’s not like the dude vanished on his way to the mailbox. Now that would have been silly.

How about the cast of “The Practice”!!!
Who cares? Rene Auberjonois? I am so disgusted with DEK. The only characted that we needed to see again before the end of this series was “Tara Wilson” (Rhona Mitra)! I’m not over him getting rid of the character to begin with. Then last season he tried to recreate “Tara” by bringing in Saffron Burrows (a 6 ft tall, flat chested, lesbian) and the only woman on earth who has no chemistry with James Spader. Ausiello you got my hopes up and then splat an egg in my face!
OMG, the long-time DAYS fan in my just LOLed at work…thanks for the Don Craig link!
Tara needs to come back. I also want to see Eugene Young again
Betty White’s return is a MUST!
I agree that Tara is/was the most important character to bring back to Boston Legal. Hopefully, she’ll pop up in the finale! I also never really got over them letting her go in the first place!
Yay I was right!
And Betty White is returning.
Count me in as a WHITE fan! I want to see Betty White return. It would also be nice to see some of the cast of THE PRACTICE to show up too. It is after all a spin-off of that show. I wouldn’t mind even seeing Lucy Lui show up as Ling the judge. It would be nice to get to see what has happened to DEK’s other characters from THE PRACTICE and ALLY MCBEAL! They had cross-over’s before!
How about Poole of Crane, Poole, & Schmidt!
Mark Valley. Duh. Like this is even a hard question. The moment in season two when they discovered he’s a talented comedic actor was one of the most brilliant moments in the show’s history. I’ve missed Brad Chase immensely the past year or so.
Since “The Practice” was the show that got the way for BL, would nice to see a character from there maybe for a visit. Also nice would be a little visit from the “Ally”-Universe, Richard or Ling would be fun. And I also would like Tara to show up for a little visit.
I’d like to see Ally McBeal herself make a cameo down from the New York branch with some sort of slam-down of CS&P’s antics, telling them something like the firm of Alan’s cousin, Richard (hee), is fun because it doesn’t try so hard to be fun.
My two favorites: Bethany, the awesome dwarf love interest of Denny, and Betty White!
Tara!
I’d like to see Missy Tiggs (Meredith Paterson) again. Her singing character has always been a highlight on the show.
Bring back Edwin Poole. The firm is called Crane, Poole, and Schmidt after all. He was there for the first episode so he should be there for the last.
Rhona Mitra, Rhona Mitra, Rhona Mitra.
How about Lake Bell! I loved it when she made a brief appearance a while back. An Betty White of course.
I’m with Paul – bring back Bethany! (the talented and gorgeous Meredith Eaton!) Better yet, give her her own show – she is AWESOME!!
Rene Auberjonois? Really? That’s the big scoop? That’s their way of attracting final season viewers? I like him but this show has really gone downhill.
Bring back Brad (Mark Valley)! The show hit pay dirt when they discovered his comedic talents and he has been sorely missed.
Wasn’t it Bobby Martin on All My Children who went upstairs and never came back down?
I would love to find out that Bobby MacDonald has become an extremely successful lawyer and his firm buys out CP&S. Just a daydream of mine… I always found Bobby and company a lot more entertaining than Alan and company.
Odo! Yay! Star Trek vets have to stick together.
I’d love to see Lake Bell return to the show or Monica Potter. I always enjoyed these two even if their acting wasn’t the best.
Oh and Jen Griffin: Yes, Bobby Martin on “All My Children” went to the attic to get some equipment to go sking and was never seen again.
I’m really glad Paul will be back. If they had kept him on, Larroquette could have been having way more fun instead of filling the gap created by Paul’s absence. It’s my single biggest gripe about last season. And I’d also like to see Coho again. I couldn’t stand him until about ten seconds before he left and I’ve missed him many times since.
I always wondered what happened to those 2 young ones, Garrett and Sarah, from Season 2… but I’d rather see Brad or Claire back. Mark Valley and Constance Zimmer were both great.
Bring back Mark Valley, dangit!
Said it before, saying it again: Rebecca DeMornay from the Practice run that introduced Crane, Poole, & Schmidt. She was venom in high heels and it’d be great to see where she’s been since Elanor punched her out.
