Sarah Chalke’s getting a new sis on How I Met Your Mother.
Former One Tree Hill bad girl Danneel Harris (the one on the left) has replaced ex-Summerland beauty Sara Paxton (the one on the right) as Stella’s sib Nora, sources confirm to me exclusively.
Although showrunners Craig Thomas and Carter Bays adored Paxton (whose hiring was first reported by my buddy Mitovich over at TVGuide.com), a Mother insider says the duo felt the part called for a slightly older actress. “They want to find another role for [Sara] on the show,” confides my source.
Harris’ episode is slated to air during November sweeps and coincides with the arrival of The Daily Show’s Jason Jones as Stella’s ex and the father of her kid. Apparently, everyone’s in town for a wedding or something.
In other news, for reasons I can’t get into right now, I’m slowly backing away from my prediction that Stella is Mother’s infamous mum.

Um… I’m fairly certain that Danneel Harris is far older than Sarah Paxton. She doesn’t even look younger. Maybe you meant the part called for an older actress?

Trazey, I agree. Sara Paxton looks exactly like a blonde Alexis Bledel… I’m kind of glad to see she won’t be playing Stella’s sister.. It’s just hard to imagine her on the show… I’m not sure about this other girl, but I’m sure she’ll be good.. As long as Britney doesn’t really come back! I just really have to agree with NPH though – they need to stop with the stunt casting.. It’s ruining the credibility of the show and is just becoming more and more distracting…
Danneel is a great actress. Hopefully she will be back on OTH later this season – I miss me some Rachel.

As much as I like Sarah, the timing is
wrong. If she is the mother then the
whole point of the show goes out the
window and the show ends this season.
Besides, Sarah has a daughter. I would
think the kids would know how they met.

Am I the only one who doesn’t think that Stella is the mother? Weren’t we supposed to get some story about a yellow unmbrella and that was how we knew it was her. Unless I have missed an episode, I haven’t seen the yellow umbrella story.
Seems like Ausiello is hinting that Danneel is the mother.
BH: ironically enough, the only episode I’ve seen of HIMYM is the yellow umbrella episode. It ended and I was like, “well THAT was obvious.”
Considering the fact that Bays and Thomas have already said they the show to last seven seasons and we’re only starting season four…there’s a great chance Chalke isn’t the mother.
Oh cool, I like Danneel. I think she’s going to be a good fit for the show.
I think she’s someone that could become a permanent cast member – if her character hits it off with Robin and Lily and they become good friends maybe? Then we’d have a balanced 3 guys and 3 girls sitcom. And maybe later on down the road she can turn out to be the Mother?

Also, in the premiere episode (and maybe even earlier and I just didn’t notice it), Bob Saget’s voiceover referred to her as “Stella,” not “your mother” (I know that doing so would give it away, but it seems pretty silly to call her Stella to her own kids.) It seems to me the show has made it abundantly clear that Stella is most definitely not the mother (see lasck of yellow umbrella, Stella’s blond, older daughter, etc.)
