Exclusive: Cibrian Ditches Betty's Sis for 'Wife'

Categories: Ugly Betty

Betty_lThis certainly doesn't bode well for Hilda's romance with Coach Diaz on Ugly Betty.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Eddie Cibrian is heading to USA Network's The Starter Wife for a three-episode arc. He'll play a detective who investigates some strange goings-on in Molly's (Debra Messing) life.

Starter Wife kicks off its first official season on Oct. 10; look for Cibrian to first appear around the eighth episode.

Getting back to the matter at hand, what does this mean for Cibrian's role as Ana Ortiz's hot new squeeze on Betty? As I reported last month, Cibrian was only committed to appear in four episodes this season. And Betty recently wrapped its fourth episode. And Cibrian's now on a new show. And... do I have to spell it out for you?! Sheesh.

OMG NO HE IS BEAUTIFUL. . .ILL HAVE TO START WATCHING THAT OTHER SHOW. WHATS IT CALLED AGAIN?

Jessica Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 10:16 PM EST

He is one very sexy man! I will watch him in anything, even The Starter Wife. I first fell in love with Eddie Cibrian on a soap called Sunset Beach years ago.

LOL!!! Excellent question!!!

As long as Cibrian is somewhere on my TV where I can find him - I don't care what show he is on.

Sue Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 09:41 AM EST

Starter Wife sucks. Even Eddie Cibrian can't get me to watch that show.

I think we're all overlooking the most important question: How many of those episodes will feature Cibrian shirtless?

Hilda definitely DOES NOT need Coach Diaz and his married butt. I am so glad that this storyline will be over soon!

Seriously, some romances are meant to be, and others aren't. And Hilda can do much better than get involved with a married dude.

Chances are good is charecter will return.

If it's only a 3-episode arc on USA, it doesn't seem like that would interfere much with him appearing on Ugly Betty once those shows are completed.

If they take BOTH Gio and the Coach away from us, I will be seriously upset. Why did they even bother building up either of these relationships at the end of last season if they were just going to take them away?

Aw! Pitty....
It was looking promicing too (even though, personally I'm still mourning for Santos).

Artie Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 02:37 AM EST

Yogi72, Daniel and Hilda?! LOL. Keep dreaming. That's one couple that's definitely not meant to be.

Alan of Montreal Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 12:53 AM EST

thanks for posting my Eddie Cibrian pic of the day! mmmmm....

Yogi72 Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 10:04 PM EST

Maybe now I'll get my wish and get a Daniel and Hilda storyline!

Steph F. Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 10:00 PM EST

Aww... that screen cap is hot.

Amy Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 09:57 PM EST

The only thing bigger then our National Debt is Michael Ausiello's ego. SHEESH.

I'd love to know what's going on with Betty and Gio ... I have read that we'll only see him in a couple of episodes. Why on earth did the Ugly Betty folks spend an entire season getting us (read: me) to warm up to Gio only to take him away? Say it ain't so!

Mandy Wed, Aug 20, 2008 at 05:29 PM EST

too bad. this was shaping up to be a hot romance!
