Casting Scoops: Foley, Banks Scrub Back In, 'Daisies' Blooms for Willard, and More!

Casting_l Nothing cures those Monday blues like a fresh batch of piping hot, mouthwatering casting scoops. Dig in!

•    J.D.'s baby mama (a.k.a. Elizabeth Banks) is heading back to Scrubs for a two-episode arc -- and no, her trusty obstetrician will not be by her side (two words: contract dispute). Fellow Scrubs alum Scott Foley is also returning as Sarah Chalke's ex for one episode.
•    Don't judge me, but I'm about to write about Rules of Engagement again. Sorry, but I've got to follow the news wherever it takes me! Orlando Jones is joining the CBS "comedy" in the recurring role of Brad, a new friend/neighbor of Patrick Warburton's Jeff.
•    Look up "comedy dream team" on Wikipedia and I'm fairly certain you'll find a two-shot of Fred Willard and Reno 911!'s Kerri Kenney. At the very least you'll find the pair in a November episode of Pushing Daisies that revolves around the murder of a famous illusionist named the Great Hermann (Willard). Kenney plays his lovely assistant, Alexandria.
•    Lipstick Jungle is looking for the most attractive middle-aged woman on the planet to play mom to Robert Buckley's Kirby. That pretty much narrows it down to either Michelle Pfeiffer or, um...Michelle Pfeiffer.

Michelle Pfeiffer will make a great mom for Robert Buckley, but like Alex said she is tooooo big for TV!!!!!!!

I love Elizabeth Banks! She needs to star in more movies. Anyone have more links of her? Here's one of her making out with another beautiful woman:

Kerry Kinney and Fred Willard - this is genius genius casting from the brain trust behind "Pushing Daisy". (The only thing funnier would be Kerry Kinney and her long time partner in crime Thomas Lennon.)

I still care about Scrubs! I don't really care enough to get excited about casting and potential storylines... but that's not what you were talking about. A Scrubs in decline is still better than reality TV. Thank you, Bill Lawrence!

i'm laughing about how ridiculous the comment about cybil shepard being the most attractive middle age woman. that's funny. plus michelle pfeiffer is too big to do tv, especially 'lipstick jungle.' sorry fans, but just being realistic. why not get heather locklear since she's tv. oops, sorry, she may be in the psych ward still....

John Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 04:43 PM EST

Yeah Harold, people do.

The fact you think it's the worst show in the history of television makes me laugh really hard too. Bad shows get canned after the first year.

does anyone actually care about Scrubs? anyone?.....hello?...anyone?.....ya, didn't think so. Worst show in history of television

Totally with you on the assesment of "most attractive middle-aged woman on the planet" but seriously? Lipstic Jungle?
I think MP is quite above that level....

Steph F. Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 11:46 PM EST

Yay Scrubs!

kait Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

yeah.. dave foley would be better. more DAVE foley.

NorthernStar Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 09:42 PM EST

THE most attractive middle aged woman on the planet is Cybill Shepherd, hands down.

SP Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 09:40 PM EST

Yay for Scott Foley!!! How I've missed him since Felicity...ya ya he's on The Unit but I will always remember him as Noel :)

reilly Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 06:43 PM EST

I like Rules of Engagement, too - you act like it's Hope & Faith or that awful Jim Belushi show or something, Ausiello.

John Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:56 PM EST

So glad Scott Foley is coming back. Not a big fan of Elizabeth Bank's Kim character, but I figured she'd be coming back - I heard rumors that it was for the season (series?) finale. Probably to show that she and JD can be friends, even if he's with Elliot.

I always thought if they were going to get JD and Elliot together, that Sean's character would be a good way to do it, since he was involved the last time they gave the relationship a shot. I'll be interested to see how that plays out.

elf Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:49 PM EST

Damn, I saw the headline and hoped it was DAVE Foley comnig back to Scrubs...

minderbinder Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

I'd have to agree that Foley was probably the best match for Elliot the show has had so far, it was sad to see them split up. And who doesn't like Fred Williard?? The guy's a genius, from things like Best in Show to smaller appearances like on Everybody Loves Raymond. Hilarious guy.

Krystal Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

Well, I finally found something to make me not watch Pushing Daisies. I cannot stand Fred Willard.

Mandy Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:03 PM EST

I liked Scott Foley in Scrubs. I always thought his character and Elliot had a real chance. I would like to see her end up with him... better than that intern...
And of course we were going to see Elizabeth Banks before the end of the season. I could see J.D. moving closer to her and the baby and that would be his reasoning for leaving the show...

Lee Mon, Aug 18, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

Hey, I like Rules of Engagement!
