Exclusive: 'Heroes' Geeks Out Over Seth Green, Breckin Meyer

Categories: Heroes

Breckinseth_lHeroes is getting its very own geek squad.

Real-life BFFs and frequent collaborators Seth Green and Breckin Meyer are nearing a deal to join the cast of Heroes for multi-episode arcs, sources confirm to me exclusively.

As I first teased in this week’s episode of Ausiello TV, the Robot Chicken duo will play Atlanta-based comic book nerds aficionados who cross paths with (and perhaps serve as advisors to) one of the Heroes. I’m told the names of their characters are still in flux, so there’s a chance the cheeky monikers I referenced in ATV won’t stick. Then again, they very well may. (Fingers crossed that at least one of them does.)

Got any theories as to what higher purpose Green and Meyer may serve in the Heroesverse? Is it just me, or do these two bring to mind a certain nerdy advisory panel from another popular sci-fi franchise? C’mon, it can’t just be me.

I don’t know their purpose, but I can guess which Hiro, err, Hero! ☺ Remember, young Mr. Nakamura was following a comic through a goox portion of season 1.

This makes me so excited. I already love so much of the cast, this will just add to it. Seth Green is one of my favorites ever, and Breckin Meyers is awesome as well. I am really hoping this becomes official. Gah, so excited !

I bet they find Issac’s notebook and these guys help them understand what it means.

    gimplygump:
I don’t think its Hiro since he loves comics and won’t need the help.

  • Mike

Good story, but you really need to do some digging on Tori Spelling refusing to do 90210 b/c they’re offering her half of what Jennie & Shannen are getting. Now THAT’S a story.

Now this is the kind of news that makes me happy. I had almost decided not to return to Heroes this season after such a crappy 2nd season that was not entirely related to the writer’s strike. But now that Seth Green and Breckin Meyer may be joined, I may have to change my mind and stick with it a little while longer :) I LOVE these guys!

Seth Green on my TV, even if only in a recurring role, makes me all kinds of happy. Breckin Meyer is pretty cool, as well.

  • elf

Does this mean we can get an entire episode of Heroes done in stop-motion animation using clunky action figures?

  • TheBookPolice

Y’know, it’s cool that Ausiello’s gotten so big that EW hired him, but I’m not sure I’m crazy about casting spoilers making it to the front page splash. Some of us are trying to stay spoiler-sober.

Is the certain advisory panel you’re referring to the Lone Gunmen from the X-files? Because yes, it does bring it to mind.

UGH! Seth Green is complete schmeg. What’s the mater, Heroes Season wasn’t awful enough? The producers must have sat sown and said, “Hmm, last year was so bad it killed the planned spin-off ‘heroes: origins’ but the flagship show survived! We can do better this year, we’ll get this thing cancelled for sure! But what can we add that would be more awful than everything we did last year…? I got it! We’ll add Jamie Kennedy to the cast! Huh? He’s busy? Ok, just get Seth Green then. He sucks just as bad.”

  • Minutiae

Since Micah’s the big comic fiend, it would make sense for him (and perhaps Monica, as well) to be the beneficiary of these guys’ “expertise.”

  • Kathleen

OK, this news rocks. C’mon… I just love these two and they can DEFINITELY add something to the show because unlike the terrible twins, they can act and tell a story.

  • Mandy

Awesome. Seriously, awesome. These two are halirious and the best part about Heroes (that was missing last season) is the mix of series themes with occasional bits of humor. These two guys can really help the humor quotient. I hope to see them interacting with Hiro, as I think that would be a riot!

  • Mandy

    ****I meant serious themes

  • beachpup

    I can’t wait for Lost.

  • Jelana

Amber, I was thinking Lone Gunmen as soon as I read this as well. If that’s the case, it should be great.

  • axle

wonder what they are riding, looks like a trikke type of vehicle

  • bruno

i just died a little inside

  • Mark

The Nerds of Doom > Anything Heroes has ever done

  • cheblis

Blech. Seth Green couldn’t act his way through an episode of Body Language. I’d rather spoon out my eyes and use them to play ping pong than watch him ruin my favorite show. I sure hope this doesn’t pan out to be true.

  • Lizzo13

I love these guys (Oz!), and I only hope they’ll be able to save Heroes from the mess it was last season. Even with Zachary Quinto, Milo Ventimiglia (who I loved before Heroes and now don’t even really care about), and Kristen Bell, I could barely watch…

  • nicole

this just might be the best news i have heard all day

  • Marissa Woodside

please we need a little younger blood to drag heroes out of the old guy feeling season 2 sucked and the fact that they didn’t come back after the strike hurt their fan base they need young bodies and a tad bit more humer..ps seth green rocks

  • Deb

Ausiello, this news ROCKS! Love, LOVE Seth Green, and this only makes me more hyped for S3. Then again, I liked S2. So sue me!

  • Unitad Popular

I hope Seth Green’s stint on the show will be very brief.

  • Freddie

Just as long as Nathan is back. Seth Green and Breckin Meyer are totally unsung and I would tune in to any project they collaborate on, but the ATV interview with Adrian Pasdar left me way more confused than I’d like to be. So, so long as Nathan’s back, S3 is gonna rock.

  • Monique

What’s with the Seth Green haters? He’s a versatile, experienced actor who can do both comedy and drama. And Breckin Meyer can really use some geek cred after those awful “Garfield” movies.
Come on, give these guys a break! They’d be a great addition to the cast.

  • BlueChicago

After seeing the season premiere at Comic Con, I didn’t think they could pack any more awesome into ‘Villains’. Clearly I was mistaken.

  • Jake P.

Maybe they should name the characters Tim and Jeph after Tim Kring and Jeph Loeb.
