OMG, Stephen Root is joining Pushing Daisies!

OK, let’s try that again: OMG, Milton Waddams from Office Space is joining Pushing Daisies!

(The crowd roars)

Now that’s more like it.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Root, also fondly remembered as NewsRadio‘’s billionaire boss, Jimmy James, has booked a four-episode arc on Daisies. His character “has a shared history with both Ned’s dad and Chuck’s dad,” explains series creator Bryan Fuller. “He stirs up a lot of hullabaloo for everyone, particularly Aunts Lily and Vivian.”

Daisies‘ second season kicks off Oct. 1.

I’ll watch anything with Stephen Root, (I’ve loved him since he was Jimmy James) and my husband loves Pushing Daisies. So, it’s a two-for! Can’t wait.

I also know Stephen Root as “Jimmy James” and not so much Milton. In fact, every guy I know called James gets nicknamed Jimmy James.

I love Stephen Root. I can’t remember seeing him in anything and being disappointed. He’s always very good.

  • lanolin…like sheep’s wool.

I love Stephen Root, especially in O Brother Where Art Thou and I love Pushing Daisies, so I am so excited about Stephen’s addition to PD!! Bring on October 1st!!

Thats great. Root is one of those guys who shines in every single role he’s in. Of course theres his fantastic work in Office Space and the Coen bros flicks, but I always have great memories of a guest appearance back on Night Court. He played a guy who showed up on Halloween and claimed to be Death, but instead we find out hes a doctor who been driven rather crazy after seeing his patients die. Very funny and even a little touching. Used to have that on video tape.
And NewsRadio was such a brilliant ensemble comedy. Everyone was fantastic, and Root’s Jimmy James killed every time…”Free advertising, thats something you just can’t buy”.

Root is one of the funniest and most underrated actors working today. His turn as a blind record producer in “O Brother Where Art Thou?” is just brilliant. Very happy to hear he’s joing the cast of one TV’s most original show.

  • Aggie

    So happy!

YAY!!!!! Stephen Root + Pushing Daisies = Happy Joyful Glee!!! He is fantastic!!! Occasionally, he gives interviews to a local radio station (Milwaukee) and he is so funny and personable!!! Woo-hoo!!!

  • Kelly

Stephen is the main reason why I watched NewsRadio. He even made Dodgeball funny!
