Ask Ausiello: 'CSI' Sex Shocker! Lana Back to 'Smallville'! Gay Panic at 'Grey's'! '24' Villain's Alive!

Jul 23, 2008, 09:43 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: Ask Ausiello

Askausiello_l1Welcome back from press tour! Did you bring us gifts? — Angel
Ausiello:
Have I ever come back from press tour empty handed? And I'm not just talking about the three refrigerator boxes full of swag I shipped home. (Relax, I'm planning to re-gift most of it.) I'm talking about an Ask Ausiello column that's so jam-packed with exclusive scoop that it's coming to you a day late!

Any scoop on when Kristin Kreuk will be returning to Smallville? — Ian
Ausiello:
Would you believe sweeps? Shocking, I know. According to exec producer Brian Wayne Peterson, who I cornered at The CW's press tour party last week, Kreuk's five-episode stint as Lana will kick off in early November. "She'll come back at a very inopportune time for Clark," he hints. In the meantime, while Ms. Lang's off "giving Clark some space," the man who would be Super will be growing closer to Lois. "They'll be working together this year at Daily Planet," Peterson says, "and some friction is going to come out of that." Not to mention several winks to classic Superman lore — beginning in the season premiere. Teases Peterson: "There might be a phone booth moment between the two of them."

Now that Al Gough and Miles Millar are gone from Smallville, will the new show-runners amend their "No flights, no tights" policy? — Jeremy
Ausiello:
Um… hell, yeah! "We are respecting everything that Al and Miles have set up," offers Peterson, choosing his words carefully. "All I'll say is we can definitely guarantee that there are no tights."

Any other scoop about Smallville? — Patricia
Ausiello:
Obviously, I wasn't going to cut Peterson lose without asking him about Smallville's most celebrated non-couple, Clark and Chloe. "We definitely touch on [her feelings for him]," he says. Adds fellow EP Todd Slavkin: "They've been best friends for a long time, and Clark would never get in the way of her pursuing her happiness. But oftentimes, feelings have a way of creeping in. That's all we'll say." Um, you've said more than enough, my friend. More than enough!

Any juicy spoilers on House MD? — Beth
Ausiello:
Are we still doing the "MD" part? No? Didn't think so. Anyway, to answer your question, yes, the highly-anticipated second episode of Ausiello TV (debuting this Friday) will have some juicy House spoilers.

Most surreal moment of press tour? — Cindy
Ausiello:
It's a tie between my hatchet-burying red carpet run-in with Invasion's Prison Break's William Fichtner (video coming soon), and Mary Louise Parker's near-collision with ex Billy Crudup at the CBS/Paramount party. I haven't seen that many panicked publicists since Star Jones tripped on her train while working the Emmy red carpet for E! three years ago.

Got any more details on Lady Heather's return to CSI? — Christy
Ausiello:
Yes, but if you're of the opinion that there's only one woman for Grissom and her name rhymes with Farrah then you may want to jump ahead to the next question. According to executive producer Naren Shankar, when Melinda Clarke's dominatrix returns in November to console an in-crisis Grissom, "This will be the most intimate that we have seen them." Shankar's partner in Crime, EP Carol Mendelsohn, takes it a step further, revealing that, "Grissom will go to bed at Lady Heather's. Whether he will go to bed with Lady Heather remains to be seen. But Grissom will spend most of that episode at Lady Heather's."

What kind of "genetic quirk" will Grissom's CSI replacement possess exactly? — Jaime
Ausiello:
He's going to have some funky (and potentially lethal) DNA. Hint: This isn't the first time a character in the CSI-verse had this specific abnormality.

Dirty Sexy Money spoilers? —  Trish
Ausiello:
As I first revealed in the pages of Entertainment Weekly, the newly-retooled season premiere will feature a significant death.

How's about a piece of Pushing Daisies casting scoop? — Amy
Ausiello:
How about… OK! The O.C.'s Taylor Townsend herself, Autumn Reeser, will guest star in the season premiere as a Southern Belle named Kentucky Fritz who has a deadly run-in with some killer bees. "She's the number one girl at Betty's Bees, who may or may not have been up to some mischief when she was stung to death by a swarm of bees," teases Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. The gig reunites Reeser with actress Missi Pyle (aka Betty Bee); the two appeared in an episode of Fox's short-lived Wedding Bells that, unfortunately, no one ever saw. "I walked down the aisle to 'Maria' from Sound of Music," Reeser recalls. "But the show was canceled before it aired." Ironically, sounds like an episode I would've actually watched.

I know that you hate One Tree Hill, so I was hoping with all your happiness with you new digs, that you could throw me a bone! — Robin
Ausiello:
Hate is such a strong word. Appropriate in this instance, but a strong word nonetheless. Anywho, here's your bone (it's a big one, so get ready): Lindsey's back! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Michaela McManus' new bosses at Law & Order: SVU have given her the OK to return to OTH this season. For how long, you ask? I'm not sayin'! In other words, don't be so sure you've got the "Who'd Lucas Call?" cliffhanger figured out.

Any news on the Ugly Betty triangle front? Team Gio supporters need some good news. — June
Ausiello:
You might want to consider joining a new team. I hear Freddy Rodriguez won't be returning this season in any significant capacity. And defecting to Team Henry isn't an option either. As previously reported, Harper's Island-bound Christopher Gorham has parted ways with Betty as well.

What's this I'm hearing about Jean Smart returning to 24? True? — David
Ausiello:
False. However, exec producer Jon Cassar told me at press tour that we will find out what happened to crazy Martha this season. He also hinted that the fate of her hubby, the presumed-dead Pres. Logan, may not remain a mystery forever. For more on that — and the latest on the return of Jack's cougar-lovin' daughter, Kim — check out my column in the new issue of EW, on sale tomorrow.

I have fallen in love with Swingtown. What are its renewal odds? — Yolanda
Ausiello:
Somewhere between "eh" and "nah." Luckily, exec producer Alan Poul tells me that the season finale could easily double as a series finale if need be. "The season ends with a cliffhanger, but it's also a completely satisfying ending," he says. "So, if we go forward, there are many new things that are set up to explore. And if we don't go forward, there's no feeling that we've been left with something incomplete."

How about spilling something about Entourage? — Jesse
Ausiello:
How about a scoop wrapped in a riddle? Kevin Dillon recently taped a segment on The View, only, A) it will never air on ABC, and B) he was there to promote a show called "Five Towns." Guesses? Scroll down to the comments!

Barb and Christine are getting married on The New Adventures of Old Christine? I'm all for gay marriage, but it needs to be Christine and Daniel. — Andrea
Ausiello:
Actually, after hearing where this story is headed, I'm fairly certain it needs to be Barb and Christine. Although Julia Louis-Dreyfus was very reluctant to reveal details of this hilarious plot twist at press tour, she was willing to divulge to me that the union will last the entire season (at least), the unlikely duo will keep separate residences, and when series creator Kari Lizer pitched her the idea last month, her response went something like this: "Bring it on." Actually, since that's a direct quote, it's safe to say it went exactly like that.

Chi McBride was robbed of an Emmy nod for Pushing Daisies! — Todd
Ausiello:
I couldn't agree more. At least he's getting a pretty nice consolation prize — an on-screen mother! That's right, Daisies is casting the role of Emerson's no-nonsense, chain-smoking and, get this, Caucasian mom.

Can you please give me some Grey's Anatomy scoop? — Bryan
Ausiello:
An epidemic of Gay Panic Syndrome will overtake Seattle Grace in the season premiere. At least according to Brooke Smith, who confirmed via this video interview that there would be some serious fallout from the big Callie/Hahn smooch. And just a friendly reminder that all of my on-camera interviews from press tour can now be viewed over at the ATV video hub, free of charge. My personal faves: Hugh Laurie, James Roday, Zachary Levi, Connie Britton and Adrianne Palicki, Sarah Chalke, Michael Urie and Becki Newton, Jesse Plemons, and Chris Lowell. But, really, you should watch them all.

Any idea what Season 5 of CSI: NY will bring for Danny/Lindsay fans? — Amy
Ausiello:
Rikki's returning, so you tell me. Actually, I'll let NY EP Pam Veasey tell us all. "It's going to be a little rocky for them this season," she reveals. "A lot of things are going to happen with Danny that don't involve Lindsay, but she's going to come to the rescue and still be a part of that relationship." Hmm… perhaps those pregnancy rumors are true? Veasey's not saying, but this much she does divulge: Danny won't be the only man in Lindsay's life. "She'll have eyes for someone else," she teases of the yet-to-be-cast role. "He'll recur for several episodes and, of course, he'll be very attractive." Yikes, it's a throng of D/L fans! They're coming at me — and they're carrying pitchforks! Gotta run! Send questions/hot tips to ausielloscoop@ew.com. See ya next week!

They really ruined Smallville after season 4.

They are refusing to move on at any kind pace and once they do move a head they bring back characters.

With Lana/Chloe out of the picture and friction with Lois I got really happy finally.

Then they pulled this crap...real shame.

Ellie Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 02:36 PM EST

There is nothing between Clark and Lois! THEY SUCK! HOW CAN YOU LIKE THAT SUCKY COUPLE? THEY SUCK! THEY'RE IS NOTHING BEHIND THEY'RE "SUPPOESED" RELATIONSHIP? I'D RATHER WATCH METEOR INFECTED MONKEYS ACT OUT A RELATIONSHIP!
CSI rocks!

Jenny Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 02:34 PM EST

Yeah i know what you mean. I don't like Clois and with all the promos of them i'm not that bothered to watch Smallville... it's just so YUCK like you said! I don't like Lois she's the worst Lois ever written! Can't stand her character, wanted her to die at the end of every season. Clois just ruin it, they suck, so, sadly I won't watch that crap!

Katie Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

SWINGTOWN might not be coming back?! WTF. I love that show. EVeryone i know who watches it falls in love with it. Its so different, takes place in a different time, and the characters are complex. You don't see much of that on TV anymore. I hope it does come back, and they re-introduce it. A lot of people dont even know its on the radar. there wasn't any advertising. If it wasn't on my ondemand, i never would have known it exsisted.

I'm also pretty peeved Grissom will be leaving CSI... but I have miama and NY to keep me warm!

The most heart-felt and touching scenes of the last 3 years were, for the major part, the ones that showcased the deepening trust and friendship between Lois and Clark. The funniest scenes were the ones where the two of them bickered, bantered and teased. The most thrilling action was when Clark leapt into battle in Lois' defence - and a few time when she fought for him. The most spine-chilling suspense was when Lois was in danger and Clark was trying to rescue her. The most interesting investigations were the ones Lois and Clark tackled together. The most iconic Superman scenes in this whole series were the ones with Lois and Clark together. Lois and Clark are THE iconic partners in DC canon, not just as a romantic couple, but as friends and investigators. I know that Smallville can give us this because you already have - just not nearly enough

Crist Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 09:48 AM EST

In the episode Taxi, in my opinion was the prove that the relationship between DL will continue.
First of all, when he told Lindsay, before Rikky comes to say goodbuy, he admit that needs her.
But, when Rikky said goodbuy, and he calls her back waiting another reation from him, but he was just woried about the sugar and not about the fact that she was going. I think in that moment he made his choise.
Danny choose Lindsay.

RiRi Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:54 PM EST

Is Elisha Cuthbert coming back to 24?

raina Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 05:59 PM EST

Well, it's past Friday and still no scoop on House... if you didn't have any scoop, why didn't you just say so?

Beatrice B Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 12:04 PM EST

argh! I hope we get more solid information about Freddy Rodriguez availability for season 3. I am still very hopeful he returns with his character Gio and please the audience later on the season. I guess they are planning to make Betty the "independent woman in New York". That's fine. But don't bring another love interest. After all those wonderful scenes with Gio. Why bother?!
I can't wait to see the sandwich guy made a regular in this show. He is really fun to watch!

Jamie Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 09:45 AM EST

Hey,
Got any spoilers for 30 Rock by any chance? Thanks

To the DL shipper who left her name blank: Please explain why it's impossible for love to blossom between two people who've gone through a tragedy and turned to each other for comfort and support. Please also explain why DR fans talking about Danny and Rikki loving each other is 'ranting' while DL fans talking about DL isn't. Please explain as well why you're so sure Rikki's return must automatically be painful or push him over the edge. Most of all, please explain how anyone can take you seriously about DR fans 'slagging' DL fans when the comments below prove for all to see DL fans are doing the very thing you're accusing the DR fans of.

Um, how "Mature" of you to leave the name space blank.

Anyways. It's mature to talk about your feelings and motivations, like Danny and Rikki have.

Have Lindsay and Danny had one serious discussion about what their status was? Debatable.

"I'm mad at you for not coming to me on my terms/forgetting my birthday" and "don't you know how hard you are to love" are not serious discussions.

They're Lindsay railing at Danny for something. Something undeserved at that. She NEVER reached out to him, at all. If she actually knew him at all, she'd know better than to expect him to come to her. She's wanted everything her way.

I don't watch the shows for relationship crap. If I'm going to see a relationship, I want to see a mature adult relationship, not an elementary school pigtail pull.

Having sex onece on a pool table does not a relationship make. Neither does a night of grief/comfort sex. It's what comes after. As far as that goes, DR>DL

"Hero? I hear fans of a certain couple call him by a very different name behind his back after Right Next Door .... Exchange 'u' for 'ss' and you'll know what it is. HAH!"

I wrote Ausiello is our (or at least my hero) because I don't blame him for things he's not responsible for. I mean he's not to blame when the writes produce such a crap. What shall we do without him? Who else would get us scooped in our time of need?? I'm a fan of that very special cuple too and I really do hope they'll end up together, but I'm not going furious when somebody else has an other opinion. I don't like these people, but I'm not furious ;-) Maybe we should all relax a little. This is a TV show. Nothing more and nothing less. Oh, and Erica : Good point! I didn't think about it that way. Damn!! :-)

Tigger Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 11:36 PM EST

Please, more Erica Durance/Lois Lane is s8. I love Smallville but I love it even more, when she's on :)

#1KKfan Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:59 PM EST

Yay Kristin Kreuk will be coming back!

talia .E Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:56 PM EST

thanks for the scoop

Jacquelyn Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:54 PM EST

I really appreciate the spins that the CW has put on the epic saga of Clark's growth and acceptance of becoming Superman. As the fortune teller told in the love potion episode, the story of Lois and Clark is legendary. So let the story continue, and let the plot unfold.
Clark and Lois.
I just adore this couple in any media and incarnations. Because of these two characters I started reading Superman comics and I enjoy their never-ending wonderful love ever since.

Through Lois I see the wonder of Superman.

And in Smallville, I see same kind of wonder in Clark,
whenever he is with Lois.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, we need more Lois Lane!! Erica Durance is the best version of Lois Lane onscreen & we need more of her. Also, she's one of the best reasons to watch "Smallville" and helps make it a very enjoyable show & really adds to the story -- we love Clark when he's with her & her scenes are so much fun. We want to see more of Lois and learn even more about her...especially if S8's the last

maggie Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:48 PM EST

Lois on the show is true to her comic book persona and Erica Durance does a great job of portraying that personality with true character and great acting. Nothing beats the episode where she opened up to Clark and used him as a shoulder to cry on while getting over Oliver Queen. No doubt she is a good actress.

Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 09:20 PM EST

Chloe/Chlark/Chlois is NOT the dominant thing in this fandom that the persistent few make her out to be and cant do so without bashing Lois/Erica, Lana/Kristin and several other characters on the show.

Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 05:47 PM EST

Good lord. I'm sick of hearing how immature the D/L relationship is and how D/R are just so mature and perfect for each other. I agree that D/L has been a mess these past two seasons but D/R is just as big a mess. I don't care either way who ends up with who, that's not why I watch it. But, I'm sick and tired of the immature rantings of fans (mainly the D/R fans) who spend most of their time slagging off the D/L fans for being unrealistic and immature. Then they go off on a rant about how much love there is between D/R. It aint love, it's grief. They both admitted it. That's not mature. It's honest, it's painful but it has absolutely no longevity. Rikki is not coming back to start a long term relationship with Danny. Her coming back is going to be connected to finally tipping him over the edge, be it a pregnancy or dragging him back into the whole Ruben saga.

G. Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 03:21 PM EST

Hopefully Clark Kent (reporter in the making) at the DP will mean more investigations alongside Lois Lane (let her teach him a thing or two - you know, the ropes...). Those are always fun and definitely worth looking forward to.
Also please give us more spoilers on Lois' story arc next season, they are way too few and far between for such an interesting character! Cheers!

DG Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 01:07 PM EST

i'm luvin the csi:ny news!! yay, rikki's comin back :) i think if approached in a different way than DL was done, the pregnancy storyline could totally work out with danny/rikki.

Rachel Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 03:17 AM EST

Chloe isnt ILL material when she's the one implying to future Superman to kill Lex in episode 'Quest' last season, Lois is atleast moral compatible to Clark in that respect, she'd rather have Lex locked up instead of sending off a superpowered friend to kill him.

shytownmofo Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 03:07 AM EST

The thing I don't get about the whole Danny and Lindsay thing is that it was never a mature relationship, The way I see Danny and Lindsay is like a three day teenage love affair, culminating with a gropefest in the back seat. They have their fun back there, but the day after, they go to school with marks all over each other's necks and whatnot, and have horrid things to say to their friends, and it's nasty awkward for a day or two, with emo tearz and stony silences in math class, but then it's over, and no one knows what the fuss was all about.

There's been no discussion between them about what they had, nothing at all. Danny didn't even know that Lindsay felt like a girlfriend until she said something, then he was seriously confused.

Contrast that with his night with Rikki, where they were talking about it at every turn. Admitting that it wasn't a good thing to do in the longrun, and making sure no one got hurt any worse.

Marta Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 01:32 AM EST

I'm super excited about Clark and Lois (finally) getting closer and working together at the Planet, as it should be. I can't wait to see the phone booth moment :D And now, how about a juicy scoop about the lovely Ms Lane story arc for next season?Pretty please?

Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:52 PM EST

"Obviously, I wasn't going to cut Peterson lose without asking him about Smallville's most celebrated non-couple, Clark and Chloe."
BIGGEST exaggeration and false generalization EVER!

Hannah Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:51 PM EST

no! don't bring back lindsey to OTH please! cause i want luke marrying peyton :)

clanafan Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:48 PM EST

BRING BACK CLANA!
forget Chloe, she's been hanging arounf like a bad stench waiting for Clark like a dog for a bone, what a predator.

SkaT Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:45 PM EST

Lois is the best character on the show. She is so funny I love her. I was sad that she wasn't in this last season more.We need more Lois lane not less.
Less Chloe would be okay since her fans cant accept her as Chloe.

Cori Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:43 PM EST

Give or take, Season 7 had four full time members and season 1-4 had six full time members; so tell me why they're going to leave season 8 with only two full time members. Ollie, Lois, Jimmy, Tess and Dooms; that's five part timers. So the whole season we are going to have five people who are randomly not going to be there?
While working at the DP Clark probably thought he'd have to come up with explanations to why he's always rushing out ...until he realizes with everyone who randomly disappears for half the episodes nobody will see it as anything out of the ordinary! LOL!
Just something I had to get off my mind.

Jack Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:43 PM EST

Bring on the Lois! Smallville needs more Erica Durance and Lois; season eight should be about Clark fulfilling his destiny alongside his future wife Lois Lane.

Nadia Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:42 PM EST

Lana gives me a headache and Chloe (although super-cute) is not in the cards down the road for Clark. Give this series some blessed direction, seems to have lost focus in the past season and a half or so. Lois can cure those blues.

Kayla Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:41 PM EST

Erica Durance’s portrayal of Lois Lane is one of the few highlights of Smallville, over the last few seasons.

If the writers can improve the quality of the story-telling for season 8 (as it’s rumoured to be the final season), and focus on Clark’s journey to becoming Superman, then Lois Lane should be a pivotal part of that, not Chloe, not Lana and not (as much as I enjoy having him on the show) the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen.

If Smallville’s watch-word was quality, then I’d say lets get Erica Durance in as many episodes as possible, but if we’re going to be subjected to the same disappointing crap we had to put up with last season (and the season before), then perhaps Erica is better off with sticking to a limited number of episodes.

Joey Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:41 PM EST

Lois Lane (Erica Durance) should be in 22 episodes! Give the fans what they want! Please. Lois should be feature with Clark in Season 8 of Smallville. it´s destiny come on!!

Linsay Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:40 PM EST

Erica Durance is the HOTTEST Lois Lane...EVER! She's also an immensely talented actress and deserves to be in a full 22 episodes!
It's time for Clark to be the superman we always knew he'd be and he can't without his LOIS LANE! Erica is a talented, beautiful actress and deserves to be in more than just a measly 13 episodes...Please give your fans a full season of Lois Lane! :D

Bowie Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:39 PM EST

Lois & clark should be together. they are like legend in superman story

Tammy Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:39 PM EST

Full season of Lois Lane please!
Bring Lana back for more too.

Drop kick ChloeSue.

Derek Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:38 PM EST

I love Erica's Lois Lane! She's awesome and I hope she gets a full season

Cate Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:37 PM EST

I think it would be such a waste not to explore this version of Lois and Clark. ED and TW have such great chemistry together and I would love it if their relationship was explored more this season. And I think for that to happen Lois needs to be in as many episodes as Clark. Erica is such a wonderful actress and her version of Lois Lane is one of my favorites. I hope you will seriously consider giving her a full season.
Thank you.

Fran Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:37 PM EST

There is so much left to explore with Lois' story! I wanna see her thriving in journalism, clawing her way to top reporter status! Lois is the best character on the show. I love her sharp sarcastic wit. Erica is such a well rounded actress. She has such great comedic timing but can also deliver a heart felt, serious performance. I really want to see more Lane Lois next season!

shelly Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:36 PM EST

More Lois Lane....Please...

laura Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:36 PM EST

Smallville episodes have become a chore and bore to watch ... unless the character of Lois Lane is in them.

Erica Durance's performances as LL instantly liven things up, with her sassy attitude and slightly cynical disposition. As a viewer who is finding it more and more difficult to sit through an episode without her making an appearance, please sign up Erica Durance for at least 18 episodes. Lois Lane is as essential to any telling of the "superman" story as Clark Kent, so show those characters some respect: treat them like the central characters they are.

You know it makes sense! :-)

sam Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:35 PM EST

I love Erica's Lois Lane..I really hope they up her contract...Please

Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 09:34 PM EST

Erica needs a full season! 22 episodes of the lovely Lois Lane? Sounds good to me!

Emily Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 08:37 PM EST

I think that on OTH Lindsay is going to be pregnant. She had some phone conversation that led me to think this. They've gotta throw a monkey wrench in the whole Lucas/Peyton happiness scenario.

GabbieW Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:34 PM EST

Thank you, thank you, thank you Ausiello for the Chlark scoop!
Any info about when Chloe is getting bact to the Daily Planet?

Mel Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:18 PM EST

"An epidemic of Gay Panic Syndrome will overtake Seattle Grace in the season premiere." Well this will immediately kill off another 1.2 million viewers.

RiRi Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 03:45 PM EST

Is Elisha Cuthbert coming back to 24? I think I'm the only one who loves Kim Bauer.

JessicaW Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:52 PM EST

When Chloe was bombed way back (not sure what season but it was in one of the first few) she presented herself as Lois Lane to hide the fact that she had survived. My bet is we see her take over Lois' identity.

Dove Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:59 PM EST

What? The DannyLindsay blob is actually going to be separated this season, finally, I can watch with two eyes again. I hope this means Danny will actually be a character in his own right, you know, as he was way back when before the writers of General Hospital took over the show. It would be great if Lindsay's character did more than Danny? I generally think ship wars are ridiculous, like Reality Internet, brings out the worst in people, but this time around I'm amused. Usually by comments that go something like this, "Danny is a heinous lying cheating scumbag monster jerk! I hope Lindsay's new guy makes him jealous and then he has to win her back." Nothing says self-respect like taking back the heinous lying cheating scumbag monster jerk, only the best for our girl Lindsay. I wonder if it's possible that the next time there is NY scoop we could maybe just maybe pretend there are other characters on the show, wouldn't that be wonderful. My happy place is happy for info on House

Brett Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:12 PM EST

As this is more than likely the last season of "Smallville" I'm curious to see if they just jettison any attempt to have Clark grow into the established Superman mythos (which would involve eliminating people's memories of all of these meetings with people that Clark didn't meet until adulthood in every other media in which Superman's been depicted), kill off Chloe, and have Clark disappear for a couple of years to better develop his powers, or will they give in to the vocal minority and pair up Clark and Chloe?

Sarah*C Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 11:37 AM EST

Ausiello omg how can you not like One Tree Hill?!!?! Hot guys, hot girls, funny characters, characters you love to hate, crazy fathers, crazy mothers, real story lines... WHAT could you possibly not like about this show?!

pfitz Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:40 AM EST

Michael--
Seriously? You have not heard Sara Ramirez sing? Get thee a copy of the Spamalot Original Broadway Cast album immediately! She's amazing--and won a Tony for her efforts, no surprise.

janna Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

Please..with more D/R drama!!!Its Getting way out of hand..i hope it will be resolved quickly..for god sake TPTB!!
But seriously i cant wait for lindsay's new guy..heheh. It will give more lindsay's storyline...

ET Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM EST

I look so much forward to seeing Clark and Lois move toward the Superman mythos relationship, as well as Clark becoming more in line with the Clark/Superman double identity. Thanks for the spoilers. I can't wait for Season 8 to begin.

H. H. Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 07:38 AM EST

Hero? I hear fans of a certain couple call him by a very different name behind his back after Right Next Door .... Exchange 'u' for 'ss' and you'll know what it is. HAH!

Erica Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 07:28 AM EST

"1.) Our hero Auiello said she comes back for a "few" Episodes (maybe about 4) That'll be too short for a pregnancy"

No one said the episodes were back to back. The four episodes could be stretched out over the entire season which is *gasp* exactly 9 months long! DUN DUN DUN!

Remember, this is a CRIME drama and the personal storylines have only crept in every few episodes...usually around sweeps.

jenny Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 05:28 AM EST

thanks ausiello. It's time for Clark to realize that Chloe is the one and Lana was an illusion. Go Chlark and Lois is nois actually!

LovArm Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 03:40 AM EST

Loved the news about Lois and Clark. Can't wait to see their friendship growing stronger and the start of their romance. Here's hoping this season is finally about Clark Kent, his evolution into Superman and about the legendary Lois and Clark couple.

Barbara Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:35 AM EST

Sorry, this happens to be the One with the two parts :-) Something else came to my mind. We're always talking about Rikki's coming back. Who says she is?? Maybe Danny comes to her?? Maybe she calls him for help and he travels to her. That would make it easier for Lindsay not to be involved and she could better rescue him, when he's in trouble. Just a suggestion ...

And a personal comment for closing: I hope Danny gets really, really, really jealous. Then he could clear his mind and focus on the things that counts.

Thanks for your post Jules! I completely agree with you!!

Barbara Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 02:11 AM EST

This ist going to be a long one, so fasten your seatbelts. First of all: Im a Danny/Lindsay Shipper. Sue me!! I'm guilty. When I heart, that Rikki ist comming back, I was horrified, 'cause I was sure she's pregnant with Danny's Kid. But now, I'm not so sure anymore.
1.) Our hero Auiello said she comes back for a "few" Episodes (maybe about 4) That'll be too short for a pregnancy and, honestly I can't picture Danny as a guy who makes a girl pregnant and then don't cares about her.
2.) Lindsay comes to his rescue. If Rikki's pregnant, what's there to rescue? Should she hold Dannys hand during the derlivery? Or teach him about contraception?? Come on!! Oh and by the way, if my boyfriend would cheat on me and becomes a father, I surely wouldn't rescue him or be part of the relationship. But I'm glad Lindsay is getting her own guy. Last season she was mainly defined over her relationship. That was a shame, because Anna Belknap is such a great actress and she coult do more than that.

shytownmofo Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:14 AM EST

Wow. You jealous shippers and your wank wars. You are better than primetime TV.

My only worry will be whether you are all this entertaining when the seasons actually start?

*Sits back, Pops Popcorn, Enjoys show*

E. Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:44 AM EST

Jane: If that's the scenario, why would Lindsay need to "come to his rescue"?

You answered yourself. IF. Your perspective is already biased due to believing Danny and Lindsay were in a relationship all along. He called Lindsay BEFORE finding out Rikki was moving away. He wasn't upset Lindsay never went to see him but he WAS very upset when Rikki told him she was moving away. Before the 'rescue' part, Pamela Veasey said 'a LOT of things will happen to Danny that DON'T involve Lindsay'. The possibility of Danny/Rikki is only ONE thing.

Jane: Since Danny failed to report the gun missing and actually attacked Rikki's victim, he could be suspect as well.

WRONG. Someone must have been watching the episode with their eyes closed because DANNY BROUGHT RIKKI TO FLACK'S PRECINCT TO BE BOOKED. Ollie? Rikki's 'victim'? What about the fact his robbery caused her son's DEATH? If anyone is anyone's victim, RIKKI is OLLIE's victim!

Jane: And the fact he had sex with someone connected to an open case could be used to question the reliability of every piece of evidence he touched.

Ruben's death and its cause was determined in Child's Play. Hence, it's closed. His death wasn't the case, it was Ollie Barnes robbing that bodega that was!

Just say, "WAH I'M JEALOUS DANNY SLEPT WITH ANOTHER WOMAN!!!" It's more honest.

Amused CSINY fan Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:50 PM EST

LOL Jealous, bitter shippers are jealous and bitter. Open your minds! All you've been doing here and across the internet is prove how obsessed and sad you are over a fictional pairing! But please do wank on. Can't have the golden entertainment dying now!

Laura Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM EST

I love you Mike, but in your frienemy's column weeks ago, it has been confirmed that Lucas calls Peyton on One Tree Hill. Michaela hasn't been on the OTH set recently and its all Lucas with Peyton.

RiRi Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:20 PM EST

Aww I wanna know if Elisha Cuthbert is coming back, but I don't wanna pick up the mag for it! *sighs*

Kate Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:39 PM EST

Glad to hear Smallville's new producers remember this is a show about SUPERMAN. Thanks for the news on Swingtown- it is my guilty pleasure. Did anyone else have a ooooh where is Jeff moment when Jack Davenport's character had to talk to his son about porn? I kept having Coupling flashbacks.....
Can't wait to read the new House spoilers!

Digizane Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:36 PM EST

Thanks for the spoilers on Chloe and Clark. They're my favorite characters. Really appreciate it.

Anna Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:07 PM EST

How can there be Chlark, Clana, and Clois all in the first few episodes? I'm really hoping they drop the second two and just stick with the Chlark. ;)

I LIKE LINDSAY ON ONE TREE HILL!!! Heck yeah for her coming back. I'm all over Jealous!Peyton.

And Chi McBride was TOTALLY robbed. I hope his chain-smoking mom crochets or something.

Lizzo13 Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:06 PM EST

All these comments and none on Dirty Sexy Money? Shame! I don't like the sound of this significant death.. I'm hoping it'll be Simon Elder, though I don't necessarily know if I'd call that significant.. I suppose it could be since he's a suspect... I don't want Juliet to die because it's nice to see a sweet heiress who isn't a slut (quite the opposite), but since we know she's leaving, it could be her, of course.. That could be good, if only to give Jeremy an interesting storyline... Seth Gabel is a brilliant actor, and even though I love Jeremy to death, I feel like he's under used and doesn't get to show his true talent.. As long as he isn't the death, I'll stick around... Still not looking forward to it though...

Dudette Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:29 PM EST

If I were any of you, I wouldn't get my hopes up, Chlark fans. I highly doubt Clark will be realizing his "feelings" for Chloe this season. If anything, it'll be Chloe realizing Clark isn't the guy for her, and finally moving onto a new guy. Especially if Clark is going to start realizing his attraction to Lois, I don't think they would dwell on the Chlark relationship any deeper than it already has.

wwg23 Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 07:31 PM EST

"Obviously, I wasn't going to cut Peterson lose without asking him about Smallville's most celebrated non-couple, Clark and Chloe."

Aww, thanks, Ausiello!

""We definitely touch on [her feelings for him]," he says. Adds fellow EP Todd Slavkin: "They've been best friends for a long time, and Clark would never get in the way of her pursuing her happiness. But oftentimes, feelings have a way of creeping in. That's all we'll say." Um, you've said more than enough, my friend. More than enough!"

This sounds great - it's about time for Clark to grow into Chloe. :)

Alexandra Torres Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 07:23 PM EST

If Grissom sleeps with Lady Heather, I will forever lose respect for this character and CSI. What are Carol Mendelssohn and Naren Shankar thinking? Why do they want to turn Grissom into a cheating, selfish man-ho who now thinks with something else other than his brain? He has one true love and it is Sara. If this is the route they want to take, then please hook-up Sara and Greg together. They look cute together..

Suze Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 06:26 PM EST

yeah still pretty sure we know who he pic after seeing pics from the filming

George Fields Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 06:15 PM EST

CSI solution = Chimerism

monkeyface Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 05:54 PM EST

lady heather....cool. they had definate heat b/w them

christine and barb...i'm sure there is a funny story there
i love that show

i think kevin dillon was on the view as his character, not himself. im sure you'll only see it on hbo

any scoop on Life? i was hoping they would rerun the first season, since it seems like sooooo long ago that it was on. damien lewis is so hot

Caitlyn Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 05:44 PM EST

WHAT! LINDSEYS BACK ON ONE TREE HILL?
THAT SUCKS BIG TIME. SHE BETTER NOT
BE THE GIRL LUCAS PHONED! =O

IMatt Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 05:41 PM EST

It's the battle of the Smallville Spoilers!

According to TV Guide's interview with Slavkin Lana's return and I quote,

"Slavkin: Kristin will return for at least five episodes this season. [Lana] will appear at an inopportune time for Clark. We don't want to give away when it will happen, but it's going to be an awesome moment in the history of Smallville when Kristin Kreuk comes back."

SueB Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

Thanks Micheal. As usual you come thru for the Smallville crowd. I feel you do a great job of digging out real data and find myself checking regularly here for the latest news. Thanks for putting the fans first and asking good question.

john Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 05:11 PM EST

Clark finally realizing Chloe is the perfect girl for him? EXCELLENT.

thanks for the spoilsers Big A!

Kayla Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

Fantastic news about Lois & Clark! Growing closer? YAY! Oh I'm super excited about season 8! I wonder what that phone booth scene is going to be about! :)

Bummer about the tights spoiler, oh well.

I'm very indifferent toward Chloe and Chlark. I don't really care, not to be mean or anything, I just find them very boring together... and I don't think these are good spoilers for Chlark fans. Sounds like they're just going to finally fully address these feelings Chloe has and give us some closure on Chlark, so she can move on.

wwg23 Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:24 PM EST

Thank you for the SV spoilers.

I really hope the showrunners respect the internal canon of the show. It's time for Clark to grow into Chloe - his best friend, confidante, partner.

Robin Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:16 PM EST

I loved reading through all the positive CSI:NY comments. Despite the not necessarily positive scoop from Pam Veasey...I think we all know or should remain hopeful of a Danny and Lindsey reunion. To me it is obvious from her comments that she realizes lots of fans love DL together. I am interested in seeing how Lindsey will "come to his rescue." I'm not completely opposed to another hot looking guy on the show either. As long as he doesn't turn out to be crazy like Stella's stalker from last year...Maybe the new hot guy can hook up with Flack's sister after he helps Lindsey make Danny a little bit jealous. ;)

Maered Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:05 PM EST

Great news on Clark and Lois! It's about time that Clark wakes up and realises Lois is the woman for him. Sorry Chlarkers, it's over, before it ever really started.

Jules Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

Do people honestly think that Danny and Rikki are going to live happily ever after? Honestly, a lot of the Rikki fans enjoy slagging off the Lindsay fans because of their 'pink fluffiness' and unrealistic expectations, but to me to expect that rikki is coming back so that she and Danny will be together and it'd be the poke in the eye that wicked Lindsay needs is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. I've seen post after post on sites and blogs where people have turned this whole thing into a ridiculous ship war when the real story is about grief and guilt and the consequences of self destructive behaviour.

John Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

My guess on the CSI DNA anomaly is a double Y chromosome.

You said the problem had been used before in the CSI-verse and it was used on CSI:Miami and the double Y has been inaccurately linked to violent behavior.

Smallville fan Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 03:39 PM EST

"Mary", of course Clark is over protective of Chloe - he's over protective of ALL his friends, including Lois. But just because he's so protective of Chloe that doesn't mean he's got any sexual attraction to her. Heck, he's protective of Kara. But is he attracted to her? No! To me, Chloe and Clark have a brother-sister type relationship going on. Nothing sexual. And Chloe's pining needs to stop. Please writers, find her some nice guy to get her mind off of Clark - a man she'll never have. The Chlark relationship is dead. Time to put the nail on the coffin once and for all.

Lori Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

Thank you for the scoop Ausiello! I'm very excited to see Lois & Clark grow closer next season! Any news about Lois makes me giddy. :) Friction and phone booths?!? Sweet! I can't wait! :D

Us Lois fans may not be as vocal as other fan groups but we're definitely out there and very numerous! I appreciate any info you can provide us about what's in store for the Lovely Miss Lane.

Thanks a bunch! *hugs and kisses*

Leah Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:13 PM EST

What does this mean then? Lucas doesnt call Peyton... i hope he does other wise i will be disappointed cause i am a HUGE leyton fan... i come on here everyday looking for new spoilers and now your saying that thing about the cliffhanger not being figured out... what do you mean by that?... please tell me

Robin Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:02 PM EST

thanks for answering my question on OTH! I am so happy that you are at EW. Lindsey, please go to SUV already. Dont come back. Lucus has turned to an idiot anyway. Get Peyton someone better.

DeeDee Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 01:45 PM EST

Many thanks for the Chlark spoilers, Ausiello! It's always nice to read about those two, and I'm actually beginning to look forward to Season 8 now.

Mariana Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 01:32 PM EST

Thanks Ausiello, I loved the new spoiler of Chloe and Clark, I love them!!!!

Mary Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 01:29 PM EST

Thank you so much for continuing to ask about Chloe and Chlark spoilers. It's much appreciated. I think SV should honor its own internal canon and focus on the girl who's been Clark's support, guidance, and dedicated companion for over seven years. Chloe loves Clark enough to die for him and Clark loves her enough to be so over protective. It's the most compelling relationship on the show and I love anything you get about it. Chlark not that's an epic romance. Also, while you're asking, any news about when Chloe's back in the DP or how they plan to get Luthorcorp out of it would be appreciated.

dsc Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:42 PM EST

i LUV you Ausiello. i LUV you almost as much as Clark LUVS Chloe. You sure have fun with the Smallville spoilers, saving the best for last cause you knew it was what we want to hear and would work us up into a tizzy. I AM IN A TIZZY. You look out for us Smallville fans. Did I mention i LUV you? Now the next question is when, oh when will Clark and Chloe make a baby? *faints from happiness* P.S. i LUV you.

Scotty Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:20 PM EST

Lois & Clark in a phone booth? Oh my! Thanks for the great info Aus! Great to hear they'll be growing even CLOSER next season. I can't wait for the Lane&Kent scenes at the DP, I'm sure it'll be a blast since those two have awesome chemistry!

Simran Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 12:19 PM EST

Thank you so very much for getting us some Chlark scoop! After the uncertainty of AM's return and the complete lack of anything Clark/Chloe, it's a welcome change to have some decent spoilers about them.
