I’m Super-Ecstatic About:
* Lost re-entering the best drama race!
* Pushing Daisies‘ Lee Pace and Kristin Chenoweth.
* Samantha Who’s Christina Applegate and Jean Smart.
* Damages‘ Glenn Close, Ted Danson and Zeljko Ivanek.
* Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston.
* All of 30 Rock’s 17 nominations, but particularly the one for the riotous Will Arnett.
Yawns to:
• Tony Shalhoub
• Seven nods apiece for Two and a Half Men and Boston Legal.
* Entourage has a ho-hum year and still makes the cut.
* Dexter for best drama series. (Sorry, but it’s really not all that.)
I’m Super-Pissed About:
• The absence of any major nods for Friday Night Lights. Particularly egregious: Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton get snubbed again.
* Pushing Daisies shut out of best comedy race. Also, Chi McBride’s inspired supporting work goes unnoticed.
* No best comedy nod for Ugly Betty. The hilarious Michael Urie (the funniest sidekick on TV) and Ana Ortiz (the funniest sister on TV) were also given the shaft. And, no, I’m not singling them out because they appeared in the premiere of Ausiello TV. OK, maybe I did a little.
* Bubkes for the women of Mad Men.
* No love for Big Love’s near-perfect sophomore season.
* Emmy misses its last chance to honor The Wire.
* Jim Parsons’ Big snub.
OK, that’s my two cents’ worth. Now it’s your turn. Post your own snappy judgments below.

YES, DEXTER is all that, shame on you!
I’m in agreement with most of those with an added “yay” for NPH’s supporting actor nod!
Oh NO you did NOT just say that about Dexter. That is the most idiotic thing I have read all morning.
Totally excited for Kristin Chenoweth! She deserves it!
Neither Ugly Betty nor Pushing Daisies should have been shut out of the best comedy race and definitely not both!
And although I didn’t think Big Love would get anything…it definitely deserves to.
Um.. I thought you said Scrubs was your favourite comedy on TV.
l kno why is Chi McBride always left out the race, he is part of the best thing on the show. Ditto on the wire
ooh and I forgot about Neil!! Yay for him! He deserves it as well!
Jim Parsons should have received a nomination, he is so funny! I am also in agreement about Ugly Betty’s hilarious supporting cast not being nominated
not to mention Ana Ortiz showed her range as an actress in the episodes following the death of her fiance. I wish Terry O’Quinn had been nominated, LOVE him! Very excited to see NPH get some love
No Ausiello – Dexter is all that AND THEN SOME! How could you diss one of the best shows on TV like that?? Shame on you!
Ugly Betty wasn’t completely shut out. Ms. Wilhelmina Slater made the final cut!
Glad to see Lost back. MICHAEL EMERSON!!! WOO HOO!
I’d say Chi McBride deserves a nod way more than Lee Pace…glad to see Christin C. get one, she’s awesome, but the show should really have been nominated as well.
Betty had a weak season, it would have been nice to see a couple actor nods, but there’s no way the show deserved it overall.
And Dexter is by far one of the best shows on TV. Just freaking mindblowingly good, and it’s the only show I’d be OK with beating LOST.
And I have to add…I’m glad to not see Grey’s get a show nomination, and Housewives completely shut out. Both are way overhyped and empty shells of their former glory.
Hurray for NPH! Hurray for Pushing Daisies!
Boo for Big Love! Boo for Chi McBride! Boo for Ugly Betty!
What else you should be super excited about — Michael Emerson being nominated for best support actor in a drama for Lost. Granted, slightly disappointed some of my other Losties didn’t get a nod (Terry O’Quinn– Hello??), but I’ve been rooting for Michael Emerson all season long. Also, I do agree about being super pissed that Jim Parsons got the snub too. His work in Big Bang was my favorite comedy work all season, but I guess for now I can live with Rainn Wilson, because he does deserve a nod.
And the one comedy that got REALLY screwed was Flight of the Conchords, totally deserved a nomination over dreck like 2.5 Men.
Actually, Dexter IS all that. It’s by far the best drama on TV.
And the fact that you refer to Ugly Betty as the funniest show on TV over 30 Rock, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, Family Guy…..there’s just no words to describe how wrong that is.
Love that the academy gave Dwight Shrute a nomination.
Hate that 2 & 1/2 and Boston Legal got so much love. And that Pushing Daisies and Chuck didn’t receive nearly enough love.
But the academy has done a WHOLE lot worse (see last year’s awards).
I can’t beleive that the Emmy’s left The Wire out again. It was by far the best written show on television last year. Clearly these folks need to be dragged into an abandoned building, doused with lye and …I digress. They have no idea.
I’m shocked that you don’t think Dexter deserves this nod! It’s fantastic. Mad Men, Damages, and Dexter are the three best dramas on television, yes, even better than FNL.
we were getting along so nicely until you went and bashed Dexter… Take it back!
Ugly Betty had a really uneven second season. No surprise it didn’t get a Best Comedy nod.
As for your opinion on Dexter, I’m just going to assume it goes over your head. Aside from the Lila subplot, the second season was flawless.
Grrrr. No “Battlestar Galactica” or “The Wire” for best drama or any acting categories. Wrong, wrong, wrong….
20+ comments, and no one’s said anything about Robert Sean Leonard? I’m ashamed of you all.
Sorry Mike, you’re wrong about Dexter. It most definitely deserved the nomination. It’s one of the best shows on television, way better than season 2 of Friday Night Lights, even though that show is great.
I want Mad Men or Damages to win Best Drama and either 30 Rock or The Office to win Best Comedy. Disappointing since Flight of the Conchords or Pushing Daisies could have easily been top contenders. It’s a shame The Wire got dissed over Boston Legal, yet again.
Good mention of Robert Sean Leonard, Sara. I guess BSG and The Wire did get a writing nomination each and BSG got some technical nominations for Razor and a sound effects one. But really – they should’ve had more. I mean, Boston Legal?!? And while I like Dexter, it was not as strong a season as I would have liked. On the comedy side – why Two and a Half Men over Pushing Daisies. I’ve also never understood the appeal of Entourage.
A friendly question for the posters that mentioned that UGLY BETTY had an uneven season: Viewers and critics agree that ENTOURAGE had a VERY weak season. The truth is UB’s last 5 eps (after the strike) were the only weak ones. In fact in TV Week’s CRITICS POLL in January, UB was in the top 10 (maybe top 5, don’t remember exactly). The truth is 30 Rock’s last 5 were just as weak and you can go back to this past May’s USA Today review to see that a major critic thought the same thing. The wonder really is how Pushing Daisies which was not creatively weak at all, and got snubbed in favor of ENTOURAGE.
When you think so highly of FNL and 30 Rock, I guess you don’t have what it takes to appreciate Dexter.
ROFL, the Emmys snubbed the best show on TV ever, THE WIRE, yet again. It’s actually not even funny even more, it’s just tragic.
Dexter is one of the best shows on TV. I thought you had taste?
Obviously he doesn’t have taste. If he had taste, he wouldn’t be watching Ugly Betty then, would he…
